I've noticed recently(several months) that I'm being routed for fuel much more than needed. Also the route is "out of route" to consignee. If I have plenty of fuel I usually go route I plan as shortest. easiest. I've never had a problem from Roehl, unless I drive a un authorized toll road, but I wondered why they route so stupid some times. I know the computer does it, but seems they would have better software. Do other drivers recognize this?

Yeah, I was just assuming the added fuel stops in winter as a 'just in case' thing.

could be the company is keeping better track of there state fuel usage. the computer could be telling you to fuel in one state because your fuel usage is down for that state. then they get charged if it is.. some state will refund fuel tax, some will give you a credit and some states will keep it all and tell you too bad.
-
I was thinking that too, but they had me do two fuel stops yesterday in PA. One at a T/A one a Pilot. Unless they are trying to also spread it around t/s to keep a better rate.
-
If that was the case they otta have him fueling in NC at $.465/gallon talk about a credit. Its not much on one truck though on my last two ifta filings ive got all of a $.52 credit for next quarter. I suppose itll add up wih a larger fleet but then again itd probably equal out to being even in the end.

No states don't keep it that is why there is IFTA . ROEHL realizes they have steering wheel holders and just want's to make sure you don't run out if they don't tell you drivers to fuel they would run out of fuel so it is better safe than sorry

Appreciate the dig, thank you.

I asked someone who would know. He told me it was a cost thing. they try to buy fuel where they get best rates and so you may stop in a state a couple of times if you have the time on your load. and as secondary reason it is to get the best price they can so they need to buy so much from certain areas . also said if drivers contiguously pass up these fuel stops it screws them up and they will find someone else to drive for them. good question though I had fun looking for the answer !
