Hi everybody, does anyone have experience with PowerFuels in Watford City, ND? I'm going to start working for them next week and Idon't know what to expect from the commission pay. Will the commission pay bebetter than hourly + over time housing and benefits with another company? I'mconcerned about the commission because I have always been paid hourly. I'veheard good and bad things about this company and I just want to know what it's likebefore I start.
Thank you.

watford city is where you will be doing orientation for the 1st week. you will be in a small man camp with shared restroom, showers and kitchen is not tat bad. then you will be put in the district where you will train for 2 weeks with a driver. starting pay is 19% i think then after 2 months you will get 20%. depends on the job either you do barrels or service which is by hours. which for us is around $20 per hour. theres no over time, only when your a trainee which is $15 per hour 12 hours a day. the new 1room apartment is about $1000 per month, no cable, no internet, but you can get it for a price which is a rip off. if you can get unlimited internet on your cell phone carrier use that to teather or hot spot. orieantation for the first week is hella boring i had a hard time staying up. so far so good for me im in my last week of training. is not easy but is not hard either. carrying those 3 inch hose is probably the hardest during right now in the snow icy road.

Thank you so much for the information. What is your impression of the company? Do the people you work with seem satisfied with the hours and pay? I'm still on the fence about the commission, because I'm afraid of getting lost and spending the whole day driving and only getting one load or something like that. I still am considering a couple hourly jobs too, like Deer Valley Petroleum (they pay $26/hr but I don't know about housing).

housing is a huge issue up here. Is not cheap. im trying to decide if i should bunk with my co worker to cut my rent down to 700 a month. most of the people are pretty happy with pf. so far im pretty happy with them. if you can find a company that provides cheap housing and good pay go for it. but be careful who you go with, do a lot of research and stuff before making that leap. Im only been here 3 weeks and so far the snow and stuff that others complains about is not all that bad. Just bring warm clothing and good boots and you should be fine. If you can get hook up with crude oil you should they pay average 450 to 550 a day. But i dont know much about them yet i will get my hazmat in the next month. But for now im sticking with pf for a good yr and see how is goes. At minimal i get good experience and will make at least 85k not including bonus so thats a huge raise from what i make in my past driving career. all and all water hauling aint all that bad just becareful and you should be ok.

Welcome to the forums. We've had some female members here that pull tankers in ND, so it's sure possible for you to get hired. Keep reading these oilfield threads and post any more questions you have and you'll probably run across them. Good luck!

Thanks man, this is really helpful. I have my hazmat, doubles and triples...does pf do crude oil? I was hired to do water but if crude pays that much better, that sounds good. Do you think they would let me change during orientation? I heard there was a pf mancamp, do you know anything about it, like how much it is? One more question - how is the drive test? What gearbox do they test you on? I have done 10 speed and 13.
-
HAAH the drive test is a joke. you can only go 20 miles and is only for 2 miles stretch on hard dirty road. No you cant change to oil, is mainly water they do have oil hauler but not much dont kno why. gearbox i dont kno anything bout that either. pf is your best bet i guess to get experience. i only wish i did this 2 yrs ago when i left cr england! i probably have a house by now.

Tong81, what type of schedule do they offer? Do they still give you several options to pick from?
