Most starter companies do. Typically, it's considered a deposit; you will get your money back when you return the equipment.
Apparently straps and tarps can be readily sold at truck stops.

Correction, most starter companies dont make COMPANY drivers pay for equipment. I like Prime but that is one thing that i think they are wrong on. Now here they issue equipment and if you need a replacement then you must turn in the worn out piece of equipment. If they think you abused the equipment and caused its failure/demise then you get charged for the replacement. Lose a tarp and you get charged for its replacement. Charging upfront is wrong if you arent lease.

I kinda look at it as more of an investment.Guess that helps me think position then negative about it. Just part of the job.I really dont plan on using the chains or cables and glad that its almost spring time. Now those skateboarders i really was shocked at the price of their gear.

Well trip two is complete and i will say I DO NOT like I-77south out of ohio. Mpg killer to the extreme not to mention riding through flurries every twenty minutes was pretty crazy glad i didnt take that drive in the middle of the night like i had started as there was lots of black ice on the rd. Anyway once I hit n.c. figured it would be smooth sailing but guess what?? More freaking snow which came out of nowhere and it was pretty intense too.
So with that got my first official snow drive of the year out the way which was pretty cool and opening as far a n. seeing how fast the wheather can change from good to bad.Went from sunny skies at the n.c./va border to white out conditions althey way down into charlotte. pushed through and made it out the other side of the storm slow and steady and was able to drop the load at the 90 with 40 mins to spare. All in all coming along pretty good although had wont be getting another load due to a family emergency.Sucks but at least ill he able to get some minor wrk done on the truck hopefully so ill be ready to hit the rd hard.anyway just a quick update on my second trip.. ill keep them coming once im back on the rd..Bigdubber Thanks this. -
