This just came up in conversation. And honestly never thought about it much.
How do you get your mail while on the road?
I know some bills and such can be delivered e-mail. But what if I need something delivered ( insert irony here! )
Say the wife is riding along 2-3 weeks and your not going home soon. How do you get things to you?
Thanks!
How do you get mail on the road???

Open up a large p.o. box that way itll be safe at the postal service... thats really the only way unless u have relatives that can get.it for u.

You can assign somebody to pick up the mail for you with written authorization at post office here in Canada.
They show ID, and are able to pick it up.
I would only trust somebody who I would trust completely. -
All I get in the mail is bills, so that can wait til I get home, & the only mail I send out is to pay those bills, so that can wait too.

You just made me think of somethin.... I'm about to respond to your pm, I'll mention it there.

Go down to the post office and tell them you're going to be gone for however you're gonna be gone and they should hold your mail.

I just have mine sent to my brothers house as I don't go home for 3-4 months at a time and he lets me know if anything important comes in

Get air mail, once a month they fly over your truck and drop it on your trailer.

normal mail have one of the things above done. if you need something mailed to you have it faxed. if it must be mailed to you, and have done this a few times. find a truck stop a day or two ahead of you or even the shipper or reciever. contact them and tell them you need to have a package recieved for you. as long as they are ok with it have it overnighted to you. some places will do it some wont. i have also had it mailed to a post office in route, dropped my trailer and went and got it. back in the day it was either it waited till you got home or this way.....lol

I opened a UPS PO Box for packages I ordered while OTR. I'd have my magazines go there too. Other mail just sat in my mailbox, but you could have all your mail go to a PO box if you wanted.
There are mail-forwarding services out there too. Some offer scanning and emailing services of your received mail. They're popular with RVers. Mail-forwarding always seemed like a logistical nightmare to me though, especially as a company driver; so I never bothered trying those services.All-American82 Thanks this.
