Not that it affects me yet. ( I dont start training until next week). Is there still a truck storage out there?
-
why would they put trucks in storage?
-

jomar68 Thanks this. -
No looks like they have caught up. Of course I think they are dragging out some old trucks. LOL one of my students got into a 2010.
-
I'm still in a 2010. They extended my truck out for 6 months. I was supposed to get a new one in Jan.

Yep, Still see alot of 2010 full sized trucks, but not alot of Lightwts.

Well lets see trip number three and i wish i couldve turned it down..Day started out okay due to having my issues with the truck finally fixed and all. Got sent to pick up a trailer at a kraft foods plant and was told that i jeedes to get clearence before picking up the empty since i didnt have a empty to drop. So fm had to contact sales who had to contact a guy at the plant about picking it up only to find out he left for lunch. So after sitting in front of guard shack for 90 minutes was told i got the clearence to grab the trailer from another person at the plant the trailer was actually going to get loaded for a run. So had to find another trailer there to get and finally left to wait dor a le.
Get to the truck stop up the road and waited another 3 to 4 hrs for and wouldnt you know i had to go right back to the kraft plant i left drop the trailer i just got a few hrs early only to pick up the trailer i was originally meant to pifk up all along. Did my pre-planning and all and got 990 miles to do by 1900 hrs 2/20.. thinking the delivery tike has got to be a mistake since the load was scheduled for pick between 1530-2359. Thinking how is a solo suppose to deliver in that time frame?? Anyway i get going after doing all ppwrk and had a okay ride until i hit the mountains of N.C. and Tenn. Finally shut it down after getting as far as i could to make the rest of the trip today as doable with the delivery time given. Realize i wouldnt be able to and had to get my fm to talk to sales about changing appt time because i dont know anyone able to run 990 miles legally in a span of 24 to 30 hrs with a 10 hr reset..If someone does please let me know how you do it.
Anyway not to bad i guess and glad the snow didnt actually stick and was just a dusting. All in all going gd and sure ill have more days like this although id rather not see them as often.. -
990 in 30 hours? No problem. Run 10 on, 10 off, 10 on. Even with needing to stop, I could average 50 MPH. I'd have to drive a bit faster than I wanted to probably, but I could make it if I had the 30 hours.
Next time you get a load that seems like it's going to be tight like this, take 10-20 minutes before you get underway and do a thorough trip plan. That way it can be caught before you get the load on your truck and get rolling down the road. If your FM had known about it before pick up, he may have been able to find you another load and let sales get a team or super solo truck to cover the load you're on. The last thing your FM or anyone's FM wants to do is have to scramble to cover a potential service failure.
All that being said, it's your 3rd load, you're new. Things like this will happen but it's not the end of the world. Learn from it. Everyone in here has wanted to figuratively strangle someone in Springfield at some point in time.Bigox3k, briarhopper, Bigdubber and 2 others Thank this. -
Yeah, what Sazook said lol.sazook Thanks this.
