if you have a fuel pressure gauge in dash, check and see if line is leaking!
-
It's the fuel you spilled on your boots the last time you fueled.
-
I find that too be offensive...as it took me an hour to figure out thats why my cab smelled like diesel one morning. Lol

Thanks for the advice, took dash down and sure enough the line going to pressure gauge is wet with diesel along with pretty much everything else...is this a tough job to repair. The gauge has never worked in 3 yrs. Is there a power source that can be disconnected to stop flow to the gauge itself? So I can stop gauge from leaking for the moment? Thanks for answers

Mechanical gauge with a line straight to the engine. You would have to remove the line and plug it at the engine. Not sure exactly where Pete plumbs this, I am sure others here know precisely where it runs.

Bad design by Pete. Since it hasn't worked and you haven't missed it, I'd just plug the port on the engine. It should be on the filter housing, look for a hose going to the cab. If you really want a mechanical gauge, a few aftermarket gauge companies make isolators. A simple device with a diaphragm to allow a pressure reading without allowing fuel in the cab.

make sure you get the correct plug, it will have an o-ring on it to seal up when you tighten it down.

thanks for the info guys, where would i be able to get this plug? and also, the diesel beind the dash on the wires and what not, would it be a bad idea to spray some degreaser back down in there to knock down the smell?

cat shop or any parts store or truck dealership would have it. no easy way except to wipe what you can with a rag. if it soaked into carpet - new carpet and foam mat underneath the carpet.
