advice for a newbie? what to bring

Remember the scene in Saving Private Ryan where Tom H?anks informs the corporal/journalist/interpreter not to bring his typewriter for the mission?

 

I think they put that info in an email you will receive prior to leaving, but you need: sleeping bag, duffel bag w 1 weeks change of clothes, warm clothes/coat. Drivers License, medical card, and Social security card. Pens, pencils, non slip boots if you have them, otherwise you can buy a pair for $25 at orientation, gloves,flashlight. I may be leaving something out,but thats all I can remember for now.

 

Schneider will provide boots and they require non slip boots to be worn always... they takw the fee out of ur check... and they also require a king pin lock tht they will provide at a fee unless u have ur own...Othr than that just the usual..

 

And also travel light.. ie no xbox.. laptop is ok...

 

If you want to bring your xbox go right ahead - just know that you'll end up sleeping with it.

You need:
Pillow
Sleepimg bag/bedding that is easily portable
9 days of clothing (plan on doing laundry at the hotel between weeks)
Gloves, flashligjt, lic,med card, ssn card.

Most TE's will give you some storage space but it wont be much. If you show up to my tuck with a tjree piece matched set of luggage you will end up sleeping with it. Use a soft bag that can collapase and pack light.
