Wanna hear some stories, what city are you out of? what company? What do you do there? P&D, linehaul? I'm thinking about moving back to Orlando, my current company has an opening there for linehaul. I wonder what kind of runs there are out of a city like Orlando. Only thing I can think of is Miami, Tampa and JAX. Unless Pensacola or Tallahassee has any LTL movement.

Con-Way Freight, Central Transport and Saia were the ones I found.

You should probably stick with Con-way Truckload unless you are willing to do some labor. If you are as young as your avatar says and not afraid of work, MBM would be a good option to significantly increase your income. They have two locations in Orlando, 1 in Haines City, and 1 in Lakeland. Those Polk County locations offer about as cheap of a Cost of Living as you are gonna find in Florida. Worth considering.

I left Truckload in November. Never doing OTR again, it was a sacrifice to get experience, nothing more than that. My new job is not cherry, has a lot of BS to it, but the ride back home on friday night past all the truck stops makes me thankful for having it.

I hate to say it, but FFE out of Dundee/Orlando area has LTL. Out and back, average 10-12 hour days, depending on loading/unloading times. If you're feeling froggy, they'll let you take loads up to their Lithonia/Atlanta terminal as a weekend trip. It helps when you need a day off during the week. Be warned, FFE has a bad reputation for lay offs! Including drivers, but I haven't heard of any in the Dundee office. I have a friend there, been there almost 5 years now and he loves it.

Central Transport, they will hire you with 6 months of experience and most terminals usually have openings for linehaul almost all of them for night shift (7pm-7am). Their equipment is junk, I'm fortunate enough to work at a terminal that got "new" tractors two years ago, so we have a bunch of Freightshakers with 200-300k miles, most of them governed at 63 but a few that top out at 75-80. In the end I make more money than when I was at CWTL and get weekends to be with my family but I have to put up with a lot of their poorly maintained equipment specially trailers.

If you are over 23 yrs of age, have 3 years of experience driving, clean criminal / driving and can pass a drug test, I can hire you running loads of water, sodas and beer to Atlanta, back and forth all year around. Monday thru Friday deal. Tractor has to be around 19K on the weight. Need 5 new trucks starting Monday 3/4... pm me for details.

Gotta be O/O to get hired right away but if you are a driver I have some people wanting to lease to us so I can facilitate you getting in touch with them and make your own arrangement.
