That one always gets lots of thanks I'd be happier if it ever got results and give all the thanks back for it lol...
Yeah, yeah $1500 on 260 miles is a rediculous quote on that load but like was said no more rediculous than what it will move for... Move along the next possible reload...

They would pay it and be glad to pay it if more carriers would stop hauling that cheap crap to areas that it is hard to get out of because the rate coming out is cheap. Let it sit on their dock and not move and they would be more than happy to pay what it would actually take to haul it. There is no reason for a broker to make up for a cheap customer.

It is not that simple. You quote a customer on a package deal with all-year around rates and you do take "bowels" freight in order to get other lanes that pay. I don't expect truckers to understand the broker world (not intended to offend anyone) as I don't totally understand the trucking world (somewhat new to that side of the business). You do take these types of loads because if you don't someone else will. I will gladly take this lane at a low commitment (50 loads per year) when I get another lane making me 25% profit on 350 loads per year. What I have to do is to take the hit on those loads and look at my average, much like many truckers take that $ 1.15 per mile 250 miles run to position themselves for the next load to make $2.95 per mile on the 870 mile run. Look at it individually and you are looking at it wrong.
I move stuff out of Denver, and 3 months out of the year I get killed. I lose $200.00 to $300.00 per load. Every lane. Every single day. Then I make decent money for a few months and make a killing for a few months. In the end, I would not do it if it wasn't worth it. What I can't do is to complaint when I get to lose the money. Of course I'm not happy but I try to minimize the loss and aim to break even on it without bad mouthing the carrier.BoyWander Thanks this. -
If I can get a fantastic load out of Mass., or someone else has a good shipper up there, then the crappy load ends up a wash in the end.
-
Is there such a thing as a "fantastic load" out of MA? I figure the truck per available load ratio would make that pretty hard to come by.
-
Let me know on those Denver loads i need them to Spokane,Wa area or back to Indiana or area i have a steady run there to Denver if i want it
Email me at fortbranchin@yahoo.com and we can get a good runs going -
well at least he didn't say, "I don't have that much in it" lol.
windsmith Thanks this. -
We actually do quite a bit of business with them. That might be one reason that they followed up.

When you lose $ , do you mean of possible profit or does it come out of your pocket? And when is it okay for the truck to make a killing?
