A few years ago myself and a couple of friends contracted to move several oversize amphibious assault vehicles from Tampa to Boston for the annual Mother's Day military event, round trip. It was a great experience and when we returned to Tampa with their AAVs all in one piece we were each presented with a medallion that each battalion (I think) has made for special occasions. As has been said, when you haul oversize/specialized the receivers are usually happy to see you but this was a very nice gesture that I'd never experienced before. But, the coolest part was when the Mass state trooper who was escorting me got lost and accidentally took me into downtown Boston at rush hour in the morning. Cops came out of nowhere and escorted me through town with other cops shutting down every intersection, side street and all cross traffic. There had to be at least 100 cops mobilized in minutes outta nowhere as I flew through the city with this big AAV on my back. I felt like the President for about 20 minutes!
Last time a receiver complimented you.

Yes we have that with our trucks,I am receiving supervisor and do the unloading! We never complain though it is what it is! Those trailers are packed floor to ceiling with loose boxes!!
It's a great workout though unloading!
And I always thank the driver! -
I got a $100 tip as a thank-you from a receiver this past summer.

Yeah how many lowes store loads? How many indeed lol load it 75% heavy on the back and stuff the doors shut so everything shoved in there falls out on that downhill ramp to the dock when you open the doors. Learn real quick on those loads get as close to the dock as possible before opening the doors lol
On topic though.....just last week. Lawrence, nj. Get there 15 minutes
late due to a wrong turn and 5 ahead of me. Walk in and greet the
sourpuss at the desk and first thing he asks for is permits. I have
them. He immediately changed his tone and thanked me for having complete paperwork for delivery. Nobody else did. They were all waiting for permits they should have already had. Move to the front of the line please hehehe. Load inspection got another compliment for proper securement and placement of bulkheads and no damaged product. Attention to detail goes a long way. In addition to being clean, well dress in clean clothes and professional attitude. 30 minutes done and out.
When I left 3 of them were still waiting for permits to deliver. -
Been there , why they want them I have no idea. Don't want the beer ? I'll take it back where I got it! No problem ! Just sign refused , right here ! Went in to pick up empty kegs , he wanted to see the permits , ok ? They are empty!!! But it's New Jersey!

How about a compliment from the trucker? I'd just used a hemmt to back a 1076 trailer onto his flatbed... lol

I did a load or kayaks last month...7 stops...EVERY customer thanked me for helping them tote them inside. I even got a golf clap when used some backing skills at Northern Illinois University, to put the trailer right close to the door, where they were going. It was nice to be appreciated for a change.

You're really not supposed to diddle the caddies, serves you right.
I worked for a specialty moving company 25 years ago, doing tradeshow and blanket wrapped moves.
An aviation related company in AZ was moving one facility backed to Wichita, but was in no hurry, they needed 25-30 vans, but wanted one per week for the next few months.
They tried several different companies, loading one van, and weren't happy with the price and results.
They tried my company, I was sent.
We loaded up, no problem. The people were great to work with, bought me lunch, showed my around the airplanes and stuff. I had a good time.
I delivered on time, unloaded with no problem, and the head honcho had me sit in his office while he booked our company to finish moving his facility, and he requested I would be the truck that showed up every week, if possible.
Ok, I was an owner operator, I would make adequate money doing this, and the people were nice to deal with.
I never got back to that facility again. 4-5 loads later one of our drivers screwed up a load, and we lost the business.
I've been tipped, complimented a lot of times....usually in the form of '####, we are going on a break while you backed in. Most drivers take 45 minutes, or longer.'
Oh, one thing you need to remember, and attaboys you get by a customer calling your company with a compliment, is usually forgotten pretty quickly.Leftlane101 Thanks this. -
I often get compliments like, "None of the other drivers ever do that" when I disconnect from my tanker and crank it up to make sure they get all of the product. Good PR goes a long way and if the 'angle of the dangle' doesn't assure complete product delivery, I'll take the extra step by tipping the tanker at the end of the delivery to get a complete offload.
It's a little extra work but man does the Customer like seeing that.
