I'm leaving for SpringMO on the 1st and was wondering which type of hauling would anyone that works for Prime recommend as far as either Refer or Flatbed?
I'm trying to figure out which one I'd like to do more but thought if I could get some input from you guys that have been with Prime for a while it would help me make my choice easier. Thanks Guys!
Which one would you recommend?

I probably should stay out of this thread since i dont work for prime..... but since you're a student, i'd say: "different strokes for different folks"......... some people like flatbed, some people like refer, etc..... I dont think you'll know until you have a chance to drive all different types of trailers...... One word of advice though: I'm a newbie on this site (been lurking on here for a month or so, and finally registered) but the SEARCH function on here is great ( im not trying to be sarcastic either) I remember seeing a thread that covered and gave a brief description of every different type of trailer and a few opinons on each.... you should try it, (if you havent already)
Good lucksilenteagle and DocGary Thank this. -
I did and it seemed to only bring up older posts so I was looking for a more update view from the guys that pull for Prime. But thank you for the post just the same superpet39. I currently haul for AAA Northern New England and I know its not even close to hauling freight with the bigger trucks but I like to hear from you guys what you thought about it.

All other aspects aside, since your up in Auburn, ME, you might want to consider reefer because prime has a Walmart dc account in lewiston.

Well your question isnt really a prime question. Its really more of a industry question since reefer is reefer and flats are flats. Really doesnt matter what company. If you like working outdoors, like to get some excercise and like a challenge then go flats. If you like being in the ac when its 110 outside, hate sweating and hate freezing and sweating then go reefer. Its just that simple. Oh and most flat loads the customer rarely keeps you waiting while with reefer you're goin to wait alot and deal with alot of customers who could care less about your appointment time and want you to unload the freight yourself. No thanks. Flats for me till i cant drive anymore.

I may well see you there. I'm scheduled for the 3/5 class

On the flip side of this, I had a load going for an evening appt at a grocery warehouse in Buffalo. They didn't like how the load was loaded, so they decided to unload me last (something about 20 pallets breaking down to 200ish). They didn't finish me until about 7AM, so I ended up getting my 10 hour break (which I was going to need when empty anyways) sitting in their door sleeping. When that load paid, not only did I get my pay for the load, but an additional $450 in detention pay for essentially taking my 10 hour break.
