Well I got a reckless driving ticket yesterday... my very first ticket ever.. and I have been driving a truck for over 4 years... I haul steel local in knoxville, tn...
I was traveling on 40 E towards gatlinburg, tn and I was going about 70 MPH which the limit out there is 65 mph and 55 for trucks.. and 40 has 3 lanes across it out there.. trucks aren't allowed in the far left lane... so all i did was I passed grandma in the far left lane, because there was gatlinburg traffic in the right lane, going 70 mph just to get back over in the middle lane and I was gonna slow back down and got popped by a state trooper.. lol first thing he said when he opened my door was ya know I really don't like truck drivers... Well I did my research and talk to my boss and a couple of lawyers... In TN 30 MPH over is reckless driving so the cop wrongfully put that on the ticket... I'm gonna get a lawyer and I believe I can win since I have never had a ticket and he put that wrongfully on my record...
Anyway my ? is from those who have more than 20+ years doing this, if for some odd reason the lawyer can't win and this does go on my record how hard is it gonna be for me to get a job with 2 moving violations?

How can this be your first ticket ever if you had 2 moving violations ? Your best bet is to use this firm . They have been very successful and will be straight with you on your chances when you call . I used them and the case was settled before the court date . http://interstatetrucker.com/Default.aspx
Ironman6622 and rachi Thank this. -
u read it wrong... when he gave me my ticket he charged me with 2 moving violations... I HAVE NEVER HAD A TICKET EVER UP UNTIL YESTERDAY!
-
It sounds like you got two tickets, one for going 30 mph over the limit (Rader timed I'm guessing ) and being in a lane your not allowed to be in. So what's your question??
-
thats the thing the company truck will not do 85 mph... i was going 70... 70-55=15... not 30... and my ? is if the lawyer can't settle it whats the chances of me getting a job in the future?

the reckless driving ticket is really going to hurt. could be all the trooper has to say in court that you were doing lane changes at a high rate of speed. he must not hate truck drivers too much because he also could have written you for excessive speed (15 over major violation ) and being in the left lane. i know its is a hard lesson to learn, but with 4 years over the road you should have known better plus you live in that area. hope it goes good for you

Actually you wrote it wrong. Go back and read what you wrote and tell me where it says he charged you with 2 moving violations? All you put was you recieved a reckless driving ticket, nothing saying you recieved more than 1 violation as you did not include exactly what he put down on the ticket. Kind of hard for anyone to give any sort of advice when you fail to include all the details. You blatantly broke the law and now you are trying to get out of it. Man up and pay the price for your actions.superpet39 Thanks this.

I bet you dou don't have a recording or any way to prove he said "he didn't really like truckdrivers"? That alone would more than likely reduce it or make it disappear. You show you're from Knxville, you should know they work that area pretty much all the time. The speedd changes several times in that area I generally stay at 60 all the people behind me can get as pissed as they want rates don't hardly cover cost much less a ticket. I would fight it anyway even if guilty things get reduced a lot of times. Depends on what the police state you said to them?

thanks for the tip... im gonna try these guys out

All right I have 20 plus years and Here is my advice.. Don't go into court with an attitude wear a suit and tie.. DO not give the reason for going into the left lane that you were passing grandma... Get creative SHE slowed quickly (she caused you to make a safe decision to get into the left lane.. Upon entering the left lane in order to not impede traffic and return to a legal lane for truck traffic....
If you blame it on a slow driver the judge is going to eat your lunch tell you "you should have better planned your day speed limits are there for the safety of the General public regardless if it is an inconvenience fro you"
The left lane ticket well without the speeding that can be beat in court.. Got a couple out west in LA appeared and the judge dropped them saying the law was restricting to truck traffic and posed a safety issue...
IF your Lawyer can not beat this down to lesser violations You better get comfortable with your current Job for atleast seven years although it falls off your insurance record in 3 years most company's do a 7 year DMV history...NavigatorWife, skellr, superpet39 and 3 others Thank this.
