Well, according to US LAW, he IS driving impaired because their drug tests are so inferior. They don't care. If they test you and you're positive, you're screwed. Period.

Really in the name of safety, they should screen out anyone who drinks. Can you imagine the decrease in heavy truck accidents if we prohibited all drinkers from driving a CMV.

If it saved the life of just one child it would be worth it.

And who would be left to drive the trucks? The majority of people know when it is okay to drink, and when it is not. Why should they be punished? Let's not let anyone over 50 drive, they might have a heart attack while they are driving. Let's screen out the overweight for the same reason. And anyone who is dating or married to someone, they could get emotional while they are on the road and cause an accident. Let's eliminate the radios and CB's from the trucks, you could hear something and get upset and cause and accident.

How about this-Don't drive impaired. What a concept. Your dog just died and you can't see straight because you are crying too hard, you are impaired and please get the heck off the road. Drinking, drugs, get the heck off the road. Doped up on medicine because you are sick, you are impaired, get the heck off the road.

effects of alcohol can last days as in higherbloodpressure can slowly wobble bac down to norm over 5 days after one night of binge drinking ie having a relaxing night passing out waking up etc.....
And I will drink all i want if im at home .
i fully support the legalization of pot just not for canadians:biggrin_255:

There are plenty of us non drinkers to drive the trucks. We would just demand higher wages because our minds are not clouded with alcohol induced Billy Big Rigger fantasies.

The majority of people know when it is OK to smoke cannabis, and when it is not. Why should they be punished?

I NEVER said it was okay to binge drink or get drunk. I said it was okay to have A drink (or two). If you have one or two drinks, the effects are long gone in 24 hours.

If you binge drink or get drunk, it's a whole other ball game.

    Exactly.

And according to the statistics and the amount of people KILLED every year by drunk drivers, there are a LOT of people who don't know when it's safe to drink and when it's safe to drive. There are an awful lot of idiots out there.

How many on this board can honestly say they've NEVER EVER driven within two hours of having a drink? Maybe you're legal but you're not perfect.

I never have but I don't drink. It's easy for me. Every person I've known over the years has done it at least once. It only takes once to kill an innocent person.

I fully support the legalization of marijuana. I think they need to develop a screening test that would accurately identify whether someone is actually under the influence, or just exposed to it within the last 30 days.

My point, was that "current" data is lacking. However, it is easy to arrive at that 1000% when you consider that the usage of alcohol is rampant within this country. Much more so than pot use.

    Why? Alcohol is legal. Period.

While only about 8000 people went to jail over drug usage/abuse last year.
    The majority were selling.

All "drug related" accidents are lumped into ONE catagory, regardless of WHO was driving. IE You hit someone who is high, it's reported as a drug related accident. Even though the accident was your fault. NOT the drug users.

IT MAKES ME SICK WHEN I GET CLOSE TO A TRUCK STOP AN ALL I HEAR ON THE CB IS ,,,,,,WHO HAS THE NOSE CANDY,,,,,OR WHAT EVER ELSE THEY WANT. I'D LIKE TO GIVE THEM EACH A 44 MAGNUM PIECE OF NOSE CANDY SO I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM RUNNING INTO ME OR SOMEONE ELSE ON THE HIGHWAY. INSTEAD OF TRUCK INSPECTIONS ALL OVER THE PLACE THEY SHOULD HAVE DRUG TESTING MORE PLACES AN GET THEM OFF THE ROADS.,,,, BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPION.:mmad::mmad:
