was at a circle j off i-84 ex 7 in utah when it started to snow heavy when i got up. so i stayed put for a few hours. ended up talking to this heavy haul owner op name phillip. ended up telling him i had no experience chaining or driving in snow. he ended up showing me how to properly put chains on and gave pointers on how to get them tight. his lesson came in effect when i had to chain up oveer cabbage. so i just want to say a big thank you phillip for taking your time in showing me how to put chains on.

Aint it the truth.I was at Sapp Bros when that snow started falling today.getting back to vegas was a chore and a half.Ive never had to put chains on and I used to run out to Chicago years ago on 8 inches of ice.It just goes toshow you that you can still learn something new everyday.Im glad that you ran into a trucker that is from the old school way of thinking and took the time to show you something new.

Despite all the bad out there... there are many good drivers out there that out weigh the bad.

Any one can ask for help on a CB and I guarantee you there will be someone glad to help.

    Good job Phillip!

i offered him coffee or whatever and only thing he ask was to pay it forward. while i was chaining up on cabbage, a driver came and ask to borrow chain tool. since i had an extra, i gave him that one.

This is a great post, glad to know that there are drivers out there that are willing to do that. Kudos to Phillip and Kudos to you for paying it forward. Hopefully the driver you gave the tool to will do the same.
To many times you hear how terrible rookie drivers are, then they are not willing to help said rookie. This is the opposite end of the spectrum, and next year, you can show a rookie how to chain...I use the term rookie as a term of endearment....we were all there once. I am learning new things everyday and thankful to the other drivers that have had the patience to show me some of the ropes. I guess I am still kind of a rookie, I had another driver assist me the other day on a blindside back....thanks to him, I would probably still be there...:biggrin_2559:
