I am a company driver for about 8 months. It's my first company, but I will say it for me it's been good. Pay is good, trks are nice, and I run Otr. I get frustrated at times with say a preplan, but the company is receptive. They will make changes if you talk to them like a man rather than trying to get them in trouble, etc. it's def a big boy company in that they tell u where to pick up, drop off, and in between its up to you. Pretty lenient and I can't complain.

Does WEL expect you to drive 9 days a week the entire time you are out in the truck? And do they even consider your home isn't the truck? Some warm bodies please holler back. I'm sure ready to be poven this industry isn't a ☆☆☆☆in rip.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
McElroy and Maverick have a weekends at home program.
The best hometime companies are usually tanker or any company with dedicated or logistics accounts. If you just run general freight OTR, hometime is terrible.
For example, I drove OTR tanker/hazmat 48 states & Canada and was home after delivering every single load. Like load at the terminal in TN, deliver to Bakersfield, CA, deadhead back to TN for my next load. Many hazmat/tanker companies do this.
Another example : Greatwide has logistics/dedicated accounts all over the USA. If your assigned to Associated Grocers account in XYZ City, you leave the terminal loaded, deliver, then either deadhead back to the terminal or pick up a load going back to the terminal.
Walmart is a good example of logistics accounts. There might be a Schneider account with a Walmart Distribution Center somewhere and the trucking at that distribution center is done by Schneider trucks. You leave with a load going to some Walmart store, deliver, then deadhead back to the distribution center or pick up a load going back there.
Many trucking companies have dedicated/logistics accounts. Probably the worst of those are the Dollar General, etc. stores accounts since they have no docks and it's all fingerprint loads at stores not designed for trucks.
I have friends at Greatwide pulling reefers with a food service division & some are home every night, some every weekend, some 2 or 3 nights a week. They're lucky, all their loads are driver no-touch/customer unload.
Ozark Motor Lines is 100% no touch freight with good hometime. Well, there's a few examples for you. Take care. -
I appreciate this info Chinatown. I've been out here for years. It just seems to be such a blind jump into trucking companies.
