If you want a fiberglass stick i would suggest a skip shooter. Google it or go to Ray at the cb shop near the Petro in west Memphis Ar. If you want a big coil antenna I would suggest a predator 10k with a shaft long enough to get the coil above the roof line of the cab of the truck (good luck on that one). rg8x aka mini 8 coax is good all around coax. If it were me and I was starting from scratch I would get the skip shooter antenna and the mini 8 coax. http://www.cbradios4you.com/servlet/the-126/Skip-Shooter-5'-Tuneable/Detail Here's one that is 5ft. I wouldn't go with one much smaller than that.

Yes you need good coax. Like you need a good antenna. Either of these will make or break the radio. There's an old saying a $300 radio and a $30 antenna/coax = a $30 set up. Not gonna getcha heard far. Your money s better spent on a good antenna/coax and maybe a middle-of-the-road radio as opposed to an expensive radio and a cheap antenna/coax.

With that said, get you a Wilson 2000 antenna (one is good enough) mount it as high as you can, and and get some LMR-240UF coax and tune for a 1.5:1 SWR if you can. Also your radio is a 10 meter, keep in mind you can tune your radio for 11 meters and come out ok but on 10 it might be a higher SWR/not talk as far.....and vice-versa.

Also the mini 8 coax is good, but the 240 UF is better.
