Every load they ever offered me was cheap. They always offer cheap. I did a 398 mile less than 10k lbs load for several months almost daily from them paying $1,200. The first time I saw it and called asking they offered $700. They used me consistent on that load then I knock off for a few days and they found a driver very happy who thought he hit the lottery and does it for $800 my rate was what I know is a bargain to the customer but it left CHR with very little. That driver ain't got a clue but whatcha gonna do about it that's how this business works.

Well it is ashame you have these "Fly by Night" carriers that enter the business and haul for cheap and eventually go belly up because of bad business practices. And the bad thing about trucking is there are more entering the industry everyday to replace the ones that went belly up yesterday. Its sad!!!Lilbit and CenutryClass Thank this.

There's a market for companies like CHR and they are the ones that fill the shoes. Many companies will use them just to relocate to a higher paying load. It's better than DHing!

Not every load "relocates" really it's nothing but ignorance.

Every van load is the same. It takes patience, perseverance, and some smarts about freight to get great rates from them. You have to turn down lots of freight they don't make it easy but it is there.

Coal, if you don't mind me asking....
For how long would you say you turned down offers from them until they started offering good rates ??? -
Have no idea. It was many dozens of wasted phone calls. The thing is some freight is just always cheap no matter what. You have to ask the right questions and listen for clues cause they do specialize in CHEAP and if you ever book one cheap, then get to a shipper and realize what a fool you were cause it's something that should pay well, it is paying well but you messed up and locked yourself in their computers as cheap. Realize that no matter how convenient any potential load of their's looks that you do not ever need it and be willing to walk. I did it on a 398 mile round trip offered at $700 once then booked that same load weeks later dozens of times at $1200. Had I accepted $700.......

I hauled a 4 stop van load for them from NY, ending in St. Louis last week. $2.06 / loaded mile on 1019 hub miles, weighed less than 16K. I thought that was a decent rate to go into that market, and I got a $100 bonus payment for on-time delivery at each stop.

Why are CH Robinson agents in Tri-state area so rude?.
-
Who knows, but you're right. I've never dealt with a CHR agent East of the Mississippi that was friendly. They might exist, but I've not found em. The agents handling the west coast loads are easy to work with and not abrasive jerks.
