Actually it's a known effect that many do refer to as an error, but either way it's of benefit to the target driver, not a detriment. Oh, and there is no need for an apology, we are just having a discussion. BTW I was a Trooper for many years also certified in radar as well as VASCAR. Had a few people over the years try the cosine error thing, and it bit them in the butt, mainly because they did not understand it (It worked against them). Never lost one.

<------ city cop here. Can you tell? Lol
-
You are a true gentleman, and there is no need for any apology. I appreciate the responses, they kind of brings up good memories of times past.
Best regards -
please,spare me.
like as if youve never let it coast down a hill...if its a large hill it can gain alot of speed in a short amount of time unexpectedly in a completely safe manner, the cop was obviously scouting out a hiding spot looking for victims.
hes likely screwed and its his fault,sure...but why pile on? oh my he was going down a hill and he let his truck gain speed,so unsafe!*sarcasm*
i would fight it, you might be able to get it reduced to non moving but some states wont even let you challenge tickets...never gotten a ticket in wy,so i cant help.
probably the same people that are piling on this guy, thats for another thread though. -
Police work ruins us for everything else. Not a day goes by that I don't miss that job
-
Correct me if wrong officer is the only way to beat a radar ticket is to ask if the radar gun has bin calibrated which they are but if not it can b thrown out ?
-
get a attorney.you will not be able to get a decent job with that on your record.my company would fire you on the spot.
-
No, calibration is but one item to introduce and/or file discovery on a long list of relevant information.

Good Lord, I am glad you dont haul heavy like myself and lots of others.
Let it "get away" from you when over 100k lbs and see which ditch you end up in.
Absolutely zero excuse, if I can keep 100k lbs at or below the limit, why cant another guy weighing 20k lbs or more less than me?
Difference between a pro and a rookie/show off/idiot/whatever IMHO.
Do I obey every rule? Nope.
Do I apply common sense and pick my battles wisely? You bet.
And as far as never being pulled over in Wy, I got pulled over for 77mph a couple of years ago and got a talking to by a nice young lady in a WSP SUV. I was doing it, she caught me, end of story.
Must be the difference in over 20yrs of accident free driving in 19 different countries, and a couple of months "experience" holding a steering wheel in most cases.
Martindibstr and Ghost Ryder Thank this. -
I was fortunate to grow up with trucks, still truck while a LEO, retire and truck some more and start a program at a community college and am going to retire again in a couple of years. Starting to have a few health problems but otherwise, I've had fun and been to a lot of places and met and associated with a lot of really good people.
Best regardsx#1 Thanks this.
