I blew off my fuel stop in Newton KS... hit St Louis yesterday and hung a left on 44.
I'll take the out of compliance ding before running into KS with 300 lbs on the trailer. -

In reference to miles for solos, vs trainers.
Keep in mind, Stevens is a training company. They will give preference to trainers over solo drivers because they TRAIN.
It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone. It fits the business model.YukonMark Thanks this. -

There's a lesson here for the new guys. After a Hunts Point delivery I was dispatched
n a load from Scranton, PA to Union City, GA. I left NYC at 1700... that is a fun time to do it to, but I did ot to get close to the shipper before my clock ran out. I got an hour away and picked the load up Friday am. It was a live unload scheduled for Monday at 1730 so no hurry on it, but i ran it down there anyway, got to NC Friday night and rolled into Union City around 10:30 am. I got them to agree to take the load as a drop and I got the last empty trailer on the lot.
After i sent my empty call I got a phone call telling me to go to TN and pick up a Canada load to take to a repower in MI. Got there on Sunday, swapped trailers on Monday and got the current load assignment I am on which is close to 3500 miles in 8 days with 8 stops that adds another $155 to my pay. I received that dispatch around 1500. Two amd a half hours before I would have been unloaded in GA.
I could have waited to leave NYC until early the next morning when there would have been much less traffic, but who knows if there would have been an empty for me to take when I got to GA or even if the person working that shift would have made the change me.
I could have taken my time getting down there.
I have no idea what kind of run I would have had after that load, but by running it hard and running it out I was in position to get this gravy load I am on. I just drove 1853.5 miles in the last three days... all Interstate... gravy.
Maybe I would have sat, or maybe I would have ended up on this same load since it picked up in NC, but even if I had, I would have missed the 1000 from GA to MI and the 600 deadhead back to NC.
The point is run every load hard, but safe, and you will make your own breaks, or be in position when a lucky one comes along.Corporal_Clegg, navypd, YukonMark and 5 others Thank this. -

Well here I sit in guymon since friday....talked to a couple drivers that rolled in this afternoon and roll out tommorow got dispatched this afternoon too IDK how the hell a 34 hour reset = 72+ hrs my DLD is at 1900 tommorow and here comes the white stuff and blizzard conditions supposed to last thru tommorow to 3 AM tuesday morning. GUess play it by ear but somehow I am anticipating a late departure. Guess I will address that with my DM tommorow as well
