If the person has changed his life then expungement is absolutely called for to keep narrow minded people from holding someone's past against them.

You said the person doesn't have to "face the consequences" I don't know how you are reading that but expungement only comes after the debt has been paid to society and the person has kept a clean record for a certain length of time, it varies in each jurisdiction.

As to it being "minor", that is a classification by the legal system as to the amount in possession by the offender at the time of arrest.

Good Luck with your expungement and job hunt... People make mistakes, if they have learned and changed then other people need to give them a chance and stop being so myopic.

Had a woman throw my five year old son across the room breaking the upper arm bone. (I am no doctor.) They said that it would require the force of falling from a third floor window to cause that fracture. She was charged with injury to a child. Got probation with community service but got deferred adjudication. So as long as she did not get caught doing anything criminal for I think it was five years the conviction would be removed from her record. She could be working in a daycare today with your child and the owners have no idea what she did. So if someone smoked pot a few years ago I would rather them be driving a truck than that woman working with children! I do not like lawyers much.

If the misdemeanor was in a different county, or better yet a different state - then don't disclose it. If it was a Minor Misdemeanor - under 20 grams - try non-disclosure! Many petty offenses won't show on a run-of-the-mill criminal background check.

This Candlewood fella is a piece of work. Extremism comes in all forms. Stone the infidels.

I haven't smoke pot in 30-years. The decision to stop wasn't a life altering event - one day I just got sick of it. I don't feel any better or safer since I quit getting a buzz. Same goes with boozing. If I smoked a joint yesterday I KNOW I am NOT a danger to the motoring public today.

What scares me are the 69-IQ mouth breathing morons that are holding steering wheels.

    Good luck!
