You wouldn't want it any other way. Anyone can drive in good weather, but you get your first experience in it with a trainer.
Well, late for my appointments this morning. On the 15 south an ABF truck rolled over taking up all three lanes. Apparently the driver had a stroke. This happened around midnight last night and not one driver mentions anything about it on the radio and Kalifornia didn't put anything up to let you know about it until it was too late. I could have taken CA18 to US395 back to the freeway but by the time anyone realized what happened we were stuck. Sat for 2 hours trying to get to next exit to get to detour
What a friggin day so far.
H.O. Wolding is a GREAT company!

Getting ready to start my day here in Jamestown, NM. Ended up getting a reset in out west as the earliest I could have delivered in Appleton was Sunday with the hours I had available, plus the storm was really slowing things down in the midwest so it worked out. Once I deliver in Appleton I'm picking up in Neenah heading to Depew, NY for a 1200 Tuesday delivery. Finally heading home, closest I've been since Christmas, but have definitely been busy. Be safe all.
Kutina Thanks this. -
Dicked around in Chicago all day yesterday. The maneuvers you learn in school or in the yard are worthless in most real-world situations.
We came back to the yard today to switch my trainer. The trainer I was with had an auto-shift, which is obviously not going to help me pass the final skills test. I head out with a new one tomorrow morning toward California.
My first week of driving netted 1,741 miles. We were sitting a lot, and not due to weather. The loads we were getting had inconvenient pickup or delivery times, and one of the places in Chicago took four hours to unload. My trainer (who was extremely good at his job, by the way) told me there will be weeks like that, but most are better.Kutina Thanks this. -
Who are you headed out with, Chuck? If so, great trainer from what I've heard. Be careful if you're coming down 54, it's supposed to get a little hairy on Sunday into Monday.

Hey Y'all I am newer to trucking and just put in my app to HOW. From what I have read It sound like a perfect fit for me. I am looking to go regional and am wondering what the home time is like ( to be specific NE Regional). If there is anyone out there who can help me out I would very much appreciate it. Also if anyone else has anything else to mention good or bad it would help very much. Thanks -Greg

NE regional is what pays the bills at Wolding so there is usually no shortage of freight so you'll keep moving. Water is the big account so you'll get a smaller truck to account for the weight you'll generally be hauling. Home time is generally one day for each week out but they are pretty flexible. If I were you I'd run as hard as I could and take the reset at home, seems to be a good way to run and keep the miles up and try to get one of the mileage bonuses. There's a 50/50 you'll get my dispatcher as he is a NE regional dispatcher and he'll definitely keep you moving if that's what you want. Also depends on where you live on how much you'll get home. Me, for example, could spend every other night at home just because I live right by one of the water plants. Hope this helps and good luck.

weeble thanks very much. I live in Buffalo,Ny but will be living in Utica when i start with HOW ( hopfully i get that prehire call soon). I hear nothing but good things about this company. Are there any bad thign or things that are not to great about HOW- Greg

i have a couple questions. im looking to do se regional at wolding.
can you tell me how much to expect to average as far as a pay check per week?
how is the physical they send you to get? prostate exam? turn your head and cough? -
I can't honestly give you an accurate pay figure as I don't run southeast, but those who have been here at least a year average $51k. Those figures are based on last year. Physical, no prostate exam to my knowledge but there is the good ole turn and cough.

Buffalo is a great area for us, I'll be there tonight in fact and then head back to Dunkirk to pick up to go home. I-90 in general is a good lane to be in.
I don't have too many complaints as I don't need to be home as often as others so I'm flexible in the way I run, but you can sit a little bit at the yard if you truck is getting worked on.
Also some of the older equipment can be a pain to deal with as far as sliding tandems go but they are quickly implementing new equipment.Kutina Thanks this.
