Exactly...If you run E-logs you must have paper logs as a back-up anyways. So how can you have a back-up but it's illegal???:p

Easy answer - The TND-710 is not an EOBR. To be an EOBR the driver cannot change their hours, status yes, hours no. The TND-710 the driver can manually change the 11/14/70 if needed.

Only the Rand McNally TND-760 is a true EOBR.

    Thanks,
    Mark

You need eight blank logs in case the E-logs fail. And you must note on the paper log when/where you were when your system failed and you switched to your back-up paperlogs. Then, you have to keep track of hours on paper if they weren't recorded by the E-logs.

First: next time you hit a dot station ask a dot officer. Seriously 95% of these guys are nice guys.

Second: Show them the one you drive off of, tell them about the other one and why (your company is testing it).

My buddy's company just forced elogs on their lease drivers. Half the time the thing fritzes out/doesnt know where they are/ etc. I'm 99% sure if you get pulled in and tell them you run both the dot officer is gonna say "cool". Im' 100% sure you get pulled in and your "elog is malfunctioning" youre going to get a ten right then and there.

The 710 is not an EOBR, the TND-760 is.

in all honesty, i do believe most of them are nice guys, and they have a noble job to do

but the rules suck and it encourages some of them to be too aggressive ($375 for suicide knobs is plain stupid) and this is why most drivers dread them, not because we hate them personally, but because they can ruin (hamper) our lives
