hello everyone
I have been driving trucks for over 15 years mostly construction
field moving equipment on lowboys and materials, oversized dimension
but the winter we have had up here has really put NJ on hold and let's not forget so I'd like to make a move now and
Try to take a job I guess at first and then maybe soon enough.
Become an owner operator with some savings I have I alredy took
A lead on a company but if anybody can offer some advice and let's
Say for example you know try this or that looking for flat or step deck
Since is more closely related with what I've been doing
I posted
This on a different section before
I see people getting pissed at some spelling
But please forgive my stupid-smart phone again thanks everyone

hi guys Im about to start the whole hiring process to become a company driver for Mercer or# driving for an owner operator that leases his# trucks# to Mercer so before I make any mistakes my first question would be which 1 would be better for me? driving for him or driving directly for Mercer. How much, money wise# would be the difference?
I'm in New Jersey but I'm willing to relocate if moving any particular state would allow me to stay closer to my family I would like to get some advice from you I have a 3 year old and wife and I would like to be home at least once a week my trucking experience has been on lowboys and driving through the tri state area and some Florida and North Carolina here and there however at this point I'm tired of getting laid off every winter
Any heads up or information on how to be able to stay around the tri state area or at least the East Coast anyway
Any information would be greatly appreciated#
oops I guess I missed the introduction part Hello everyone

Here's a couple of companies to check that have steady year round freight in your area.
Comtrac Logistics in Kearney as a company driver or 0/0. Once the Panama Canal widening project is completed, more ships will load/unload in NJ so this company looks good for the long term & has pretty good benefits.
Marten Transport also has a intermodal logistics division in your area that will benefit from the increased port activity. -
Have you considered tankers? There is company in jersey city NJ i worked for a few years. Langer Transport. They have company trucks but mostly Owner Operators. They will train you. I'm not sure about company drivers but as Owner i made the most money with them not because i ran a lot but because loads paid very well. They have Terminals in NJ, IL, SC, TX, LA. I heard from comp. drivers they are doing very well and home every nights. Good luck.
