Got popped in NM a few weeks ago. Had unloaded in Vegas Sunday, then deadheaded up to Fresno and took my 34 off to reload Wendsday. On Friday, I got pulled over in New Mexico for an inspection. My logs are spotless at all times. Received a ticket for neglecting to record my "empty" status behind my shippers numbers on the deadhead to Fresno on Sunday.
It's all about safety folks. It won't be long, and they will be replacing us vets with excellent driving records with cheap foreign imports that can't speak English.
One of my new trucks failed a Level 2 today,

That little issue made you a possible danger on the highway. I wonder if we could find something to worry about in their personal lives and work that should be stopped.NavigatorWife, SheepDog and aiwiron Thank this. -
It's getting out of hand. Somehow, someway, these brainwashed government thieves have to be stopped. There was a day when I had the highest respect for what they do. I drive better equipment these days then I did in the 70s and the 80s because of them. But anymore, it's painfully obvious that things have gone to far and it is all about stoking their broke state coffers on the working mans dollar.

It is only going to get worse. With more and more companies going onto electronic logs, they are hurting for revenue.KANSAS TRANSIT, aiwiron and SheepDog Thank this. -
Is that actually a required part of the logs or just something that just happens to be on your logs? I do.t remember doing this when I was on paper, and am on elogs now so I don't have to enter anything other than what my duty status changes were for.
-
By the way, I now feel safer knowing if I'm ever close to you, your logs will state if you're empty or not

That's just BS. I usually showed 15 minutes checking in/unload before going in the sleeper. That's enough to terminate and deduct one is empty. All he has to do is look at the bills and see they were received. There is nothing in the regulations that show you have to document by other means you are empty.
I would of contacted his supervisor or tried to challenge that one somehow. I'd pull out the little green/white bible and say show me where it says that. Are you too lazy to open the doors?
That's BS!
SheepDog, aiwiron and KnuckleBuster Thank this. -
It's all about revenue Condo. The section he wrote the ticket on was 395.8.

WE been doing voluntary inspections for the quarter, it really brugged me that one of our drivers got a license plate too high violation
And that license plate HaS been on the grill for 4 years now ain't that some ####SheepDog Thanks this. -
Yeah, I have always been told that I had to "document" what I was hauling, but I NEVER heard about "documenting" what I WASN'T hauling!!!
I agree, I like you have so much nicer, and safer equipment than what I started with 20 some odd years ago. But this little nitpick BS. IS outta hand.
We are looking at going to Elogs just for some of these very reasons, I guess my next question is that in 5 years when everyone is as perfect as they can be, and the DOT has all of the riff raff off the road, then what?
Will the states start sponsoring Dunkin Doughnut chains so that all of this elevated enforcement has somewhere to go, and something to do?Original Bender, scottied67 and KnuckleBuster Thank this.
