I made just a little more than that but I was home every night with weekends off. Maybe Poly doesn't beg but a lot of carriers do. You can see that in their ads. And believe me, the ads are out there.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

billyduke, I started in this industry when I was in high school driving straight trucks in the oil patch of South Texas during the summer. Then I moved on to local city delivery. From there it was on to regional runs before going OTR. Then I went back to local until I decided I wanted OTR again. So all the previous questions you asked I knew the answer to before you ever started to drive.
Apparently you have a hard time comprehending the fact most of us here at Poly have been around the block a few times and understand fully what we are doing and accept how we get paid to do it.ONESHOT1997, LilRobWayne, Dinomite and 5 others Thank this. -
I agree that it is a lifestyle. I spent 2.5 years living in a Truck as I gained experience to get a Local Job. It was very difficult for the first 2 months and then it was actually quite easy(for Me, Single and no family) I did good for the next 2 years and the last Several Months I just couldn't handle it. I don't know why and that still bothers me to this day! I had a fantastic Dedicated run that went from My Hometown of SLC down to LA and back twice a week. Left Sunday afternoon and was Finished Friday afternoon. And had an Great Customer to deal with and Served them for over a year. But I was miserable. I still saw my friends and made good money,,,but, I don't know. So I spent 6 months learning linehaul and then spent 5.5 years driving Local for a trash Hauling Place. Made the same as I did OTR and worked about 30 Hours less a week (Work 100, log 70, get paid for 40 LOL), but the other Drivers were just horrible to Deal with. OTR Guys, for the most part, are so #### friendly. You get the crusty Buggers Here and there, but for the most part, the majority of the Drivers I have met were really good people.
Everybody has and needs something that works for them. It seems like you both found and are doing what you need and want to do and I'm happy for you bothjdrentzjr Thanks this. -
majestyk, elsriver, jdrentzjr and 1 other person Thank this.

I believe you don't go into someones house and start kicking there stuff around, and telling them that they made bad choices, unless they have asked for help!,.
I myself was a Crete - Shaffer driver and left them for a local job, my experience started in 1997, after I retired from the U>S>C>G>22yrs, I was also a Superload Driver (16 wide-up to 104 long all over the U.S.), was also a Transportation MGR for 6YRS, and have decided to go back over the road with ASHLEY, they have owner spec equipment and get you home weekly, the drivers there make 58,000 to 98,000 a year depending on what you want to do for runs ( like finger print the load ), I also have 2 other brothers that drive, one for Wal-mart in the North-east making about 70,000 ( 6 on 3 off ) and the other that works for USA trucking making about 44,000 ( 4 weeks out 5 days off ) and this works for them, and the job with Ashley ( 7-10 on and 2 off) will work for me in my location-FL>,.
My point is;
It is there choice based on there needs and there experience and there location's not yours. I am shure that you are welcome to ask questions, but unless you have something to good to offer, it may be better to set back and read and learn a little bit more.
With all due respect: my 2 cents -
Well, I'm back. Looks like we have kinda gone off the rails here a little in the last few weeks. Lets all just keep our noses in our own business and not look down them at others. We should have learned that in kindergarten, but alas, I never attended kindergarten.
elsriver, coolcat and mushroom1464 Thank this. -

well Guys I think these new post are kind of off our base and sound like they have comments out of jelousy. Buy again this site is we share for those who want to come over and keep our comraderee with our fellow Driver friends They dont have this. I have been a driver for along time and have had many types of positions but with economy they have all been hit and changed and POLY has been the best I have found in years and have search and again pay is different in different part of the country. Poly has been slow lately but I have syill made 2 x as much in a week as I was making before, so as for me and I may be able to say the others that work at POLY we are very pleased with our Job and pay and all companies are not perfect but the respect and freedom we get is the BEST. as for the Guys that started the post and maintain this have been the best at welcoming any one who starts working here and they didnt benefit in any form except gain some frienships

I've been up in the great white north of Minnesota the last couple days. I came up here last week to try and get out of the slow freight in the GP area only to find it is slow up here too. I am picking up a Effingham Il load at Cottage Grove today and deliver Monday morning. It's not the best load by far, but it keeps me moving and hopefully, I will have better choices of loads next time.
Elsriver, you are correct in saying even though it is slow here right now, I still brought home more $$ than I did in a good week at Crete. I am still glad I moved over to Poly trucking.elsriver Thanks this.
