Probably going to end up putting a clutch in my tractor wanted to know you're thoughts on weather to go with a Lipe 1 or go with the eaton easy pedal. I tend to gross 79000-80000 99.9% of the time. have an rtlo20918B transmission. Already talked with lipe to inquire about their clutches. And called the local distributor. $650 for the lipe 1, $1050 for the eaton 108925-25. What are your thoughts? The gentlemen I spoke at lipe said the lipe would be a lot more firm than the eaton, and it grabs at a different location so it would take some getting used too. I've heard good and bad about lipe want some feed back from some guys that have them and have them or have used trucks with them in it. Thanks and have a good one
Lipe or Eaton?

That is high on the eaton price, I gave $800 for the 2050 easy pedal advantage at a KW dealer. Lipes work well if you never get into a situation that you need to slip the clutch, that has been known to cause problems.

That was kinda my thought as well on the eaton price. I don't know it's a hard decision for me to make. I do like the fact that the clutch starts to grab at 2 inches out though instead of 4-6 or so. And the price is better but I just read on dieselgarage about a guy that only made it 400,000 miles on his lipe which is concerning to me.

I am running a 2050 eaton in my truck that has 2250 torque at 1200 rpm. All I can say is it is smooth. I really like it. Got it from Kenworth for $800.00

I have run a few lipes in our trucks and the engagement isn't bad if adjusted properly and the pedel is stiffer but the throw out bearings do not last. I am just getting ready to replace my third one for a bad throw out bearing in under 200,000 miles. I started using a clutch called the rhino pac rated at 2250 ft lbs and seems to be working good but only had them in a little while. I'll tell u what I do like about them is the damper springs in the clutch disks they are very similar to the lipe which I think is better than the Eatons seeing that it is the most common failure on them.

Go with the Eaton, you get what you pay for. Eaton made your transmission, they also made the clutch that came with it. Let me tell you about my after market clutch story. I have a 95 Saturn SC2, I bought an Auto Zone clutch. After installing the clutch, the car wouldn't go in gear while running and got stuck. It wasn't the hydraulics, we replaced those and still it persisted. We pulled the clutch, but in a Genuine Luk's clutch which NAPA sells(well, NEW Stock, DO NOT get their old stock made by Valeo, I did an returned it when I saw it said Valeo and not Luk's on the disc). There were differences in the size of the pressure plate, specifically the thickness, the size of the forks and length of them. The clutch disc was the same diameter, but had different thickness in the spline area.
Yes, it's a little more but shop around for another Eaton clutch at a different dealer. How much do you spend in labor to drop a transmission to change out a throw out bearing? Probably more than what you would pay to buy the Eaton kit the first time around. Just my .02 cents. -
Comparing autozone parts with lipe clutches. What's next comparison Walmart with paccar? Lmao.
You know what the eaton feels like and does, sometimes you will never know with the feed back until you put in in your own hands or under your foot in this case.junkyardkid Thanks this. -
The point is, after market clutches are not the same as OEM. Some can be improved, but many have to alter design to avoid patent issues. The same goes with oil filters causing loss of pressure or not filtering fully because they are designed differently to avoid patent issues, and there fore do not work correctly in the application they are being used in. This is especially true for the cartridge filters found in the newer Powerstroke engines.

I like the eaton 2050 easy pedal I got about a month ago. It was a grand installed and the flywheel re surfaced. It's real smooth

Go with Eaton! I've got the Lipe one in mine and don't like it. I'm seriously thinking about removing it.
When I first put the Lipe in mine it was great then it seated and went to ####! I have to be real cautious taking off cause it causes a hop in the truck. At first I thought it was just my clutch due to the fact I thought the intermediate plate was warped, but after talking to others with the same clutch I can see it is just the way Lipe clutches are.
I have been messing with the adjustment to see if it helps so give me a week or so and I will have a good answer. The great thing about Lipe is it only takes one person to adjust it. When the adjustment is out, the clutch is a real PIA! It will let you know it needs adjusted in the way it takes off.SHC Thanks this.
