I have 40' of bottom deck too. The agent thought the shipper was being a goof. Next time I might embellish a little.

Do they not give you the shippers contact info?? our agents always give us the shippers number and a POC number. I always call on every load before I arrive to get directions and any info about equipment or certin times to show up.

I've only gotten that info after I accept the load. Maybe next time I'll try for the direct number.

You'll never get it because they'll be scared of you stealing their customer, which I do

How would I steal the customer? I'm Mercer and the agent is Mercer.

Oh well then never mind, any respectable agent should know, as well as any respectable shipper or reciever knows what kind Of equipment they need

Yeah I know they will, I had a broker call a shipper that I'm the "in house carrier" and try to undercut my rates, the only stuff I don't do for this customer of mine is sweep the floor, ever since then I've quit caring

In my opinion, shippers are notorious for requesting more trailer than they actually need. It always pays to attempt to check it out by talking to them. I would not have allowed a truck to run 90 miles without confirmation that they would load the trailer my driver had.

A customer that I haul 100% of their loads has brokers calling every day trying to cut our rates. The way I see it, if someone gives out too much information it is their bad business move. I am not talking about back solicitation, but figuring out what the load is based on what they tell you on the phone, prior to booking. In addition, if the shipper is willing to talk to anyone that calls the broker probably didn't have that good a relationship to begin with. On the other hand, the rates from this type of shipper are probably not very attractive, and they will well you out just as quick.
