Different database...the cards are pretty much identical...military ID's too... but the info from the background check is stored in different places for each...the easy answer is a centralized database, but think hard about that...its not really a good idea, I'd rather pay for the background checks myself.

And to answer Evil_E's question about why 2 agencies doing the same thing...and neither of them know what the other is doing...

To create government jobs...which is probably going to be the next balloon to pop, like the housing market.

Got my one year safe driving “goodies.” Along with the patch and pin comes a certificate from the Safety Dept. I would have gotten this sooner if it weren't for a “disagreement” I had with a pole in Pittsburgh.

Congrats and yep we all have to beware of the dreaded pole deer, Especially the bright yellow ones that you can see from a mile away. They stand their ground against the largest of foes. They stand there staring you down if you are looking directly at them, but take your eyes off them and WHAMMO!!!! they charge into your path. Be very careful of the ones with the battle scars down to the bone. (the yellow skin has been rubbed off). They are definitely the oldest, toughest, meanest, sneakiest of them all.

Yeah, the get off ramp from 65N to 80/94W towards Chicago. If you go to the Gary yard from 65 you will go around this 45mph turn very carefully. There were some orange barrels at the time that video was taken-in the winter too no less! Ha!

Yep.Isn't the one from 80/94W to 65S the one with temporary jersey walls to keep you from fall 20+ feet?

call the safety department and let them know your patch wasn't in with the rest of your awards for 1 year safe driving and they'll get one to you asap i'm sure. A lot of time, the envelopes are stuffed by the drivers at the rock on light duty. Mistakes happen and yes, putting the correct number of items in an envelope may be quite confusing to some, or maybe the patches were on the guy's blind side because he's on light duty because he took a bungee hook to the eye. My best educated guess however was, they ran out for the moment.
