What is "line 5"? I don't have a line 5 on paper. Because it DOESN'T exist.

Yeah , he can tell you to move then cite you for moving . Most won't tell you to move when you are out of hours because it puts liability on them .

There is no line 5 on our e-logs . There is a Personal Conveyance remark on Off Duty . This can be used when bobtailing or deadheading home or to get food or lodging . Tankers can't use PC when they have residue in the trailer after unloading .
Before we had e-logs we would bobtail home off duty all the time .

Ok i know that but no matter what your elog or paper log shows a dot cop can find you out of HOS if he or she feels you are or where unfit to drive. so if you wreck on your elog you still have the same issue on hours....its up to the cop

EXACTLY....Just because they have E-LOGS does not mean they are exempt from prison time...They just put a guy in prison in NY not to long ago with an e log...They will find fault anyway they can to put it on the driver...It is the nature of the beast...

Landstar give us 1 hour of off-duty driving. If you are still driving after 1 hour you will be automatically be put on to driving. You have basically return to the place start from. So you can't abuse it. It so you can bobtail home or go get something too eat. I asked Landstar about pulling trailer with off-duty driving. They said if you get stopped by the DOT they may not believe you and could write you a ticket.

This must be a Landstar Rule.I was under impression that DOT lets you drive your bobtail anytime you want for as long as you want AND as far as you want....L/S must of trumped DOT LAW...

True . Many carriers have their own rules that are more restrictive than FMCSR .
