REAL flatbedders? Well, I suppose you are on a good board for that. I wouldn't say Ithat I have near the experience that alot of the guys on here, but over a year's worth, so here is my opinion. It looks like you have at least one securement (strap) for every 8ft of load, which is good. You also have a gut strap over each of the lower levels. From the picture, I would say that you did a good job. (I also admit that I never do lumber loads like that). It looks like the tarp job was a difficult one!

All Kidding aside, its nice to see someone new to Maverick have a nicer looking tarp job than some of the drivers that have been here for years.

veeboards.com for the nice plastic ones. Hauled those once and yep edges of them are tarp eaters. I know you're glass div but coil pads, friction mats, heck even cardboard boxes out of a nearby dumpster torn into pieces and folded over a coupla times to make it really thick under the straps would work too.

looks great! but im not actually a real flatbedder, but I did drop a student off at a Holiday Inn Express this morning. lol. no really.....looks good. The flatter the top of the load is front to back, the easier it is to get a tarp job to look "shrink wrapped" or "spray painted" any dips, gaps, etc across the top will flap in the breeze as it goes down the road. if it flaps....bungee it. some put a bungee pulling down to the rub rail from the upper d-rings in said gaps, dips. I'll get on top of the load and have bungees going over the top of the load pulling the excess tarp upward eliminating the flapping. CAUTION: when taking off the tarps if you put bungees over the top of the load, if you've been through some rain, take the bungees off the top first from up top. Well, I'm not a flatbedder but ride with one and the 1st thing I noticed was all the twisted straps. I just notice things like that since most Mavericks don't have them. Other then that good job.

My current load through the house:

Only took me 3 hours to load and tarp it. Significantly better than the 10 hours it took for the last load. about 30 minutes of that was pulling that massive tarp across the top of the load from hte front to the back. Normally they would do it with a crane, but the loaders disappeared on me so instead of searching the whole plant for them I just did it myself.
This tarp needs some major work though. It's missing a ton of D rings and has tears all along the bottom. Didn't know until I went to tie it down or I would've taken a different trailer.
Made it home for the first time in 2 weeks at about 1500 today. Was supposed to be home yesterday but they wanted me to take this load since there was 0 OOR miles on it for me to get home. I will only have about 40 hours at home this weekend. Hopefully it's better next time.
The only downside to coming home, I have access to stores and wind up spending money.
The upside, it's all for work so I can save the receipts and take it as a deduction on my taxes next year.
Now to enjoy a bit of time off.Kutina Thanks this. -
Are you taking the per diem at maverick? If so any groceries or similar daily expenses cant be deducted,that is what per diem covers. Expenses like gloves,laundry detergent etc are still deductible.

Thank you, I would like that and will take him up on his offer and can meet him near that area if needed. I believe that I live to far away to get those dedicated routes but I will let Maverick tell me that 150 miles.
