and , you took my comment Completely out of Context ! See above .
I Only mentioned Rush , to credit him for his Realville description.
You , Sir , went off on him. And , you didn't answer the Questions ! I'll ask Again.
Were you as Outraged by Bill Clintion Raping women, as you are about a talk show host , with spinal injury , becoming addicted to pain pills ?
Or about a Racist being declared " the Consicence of the Senate " ?
And , what did that have to do with this topic ?
As for common sense , I'll leave that for others to judge.
We were talking about the economy , and the rest of the year , for the trucking industry.
I don't take attacks on My common sense lightly.
    See ya!

Not to mention that the Consumer Confidence Index is generally the LAST leading indicator of a turning economy. It trails all other indexes, generally because it is the "I feel better" measurement. When people feel better, they spend more money. As much as drivers are overly pessimistic (you KNOW you are)... History and the current numbers are telling a different story.

None of that stuff really mattered though did it? We all know every single one of them are crooks, kooks, and wierdos with big inflated egos and all they do is sit around in ivory towers pointing fingers at the rest of us. Bush was a conservative yet he spent money like a drunken sailor and put "liberals" like LBJ to shame when it came to growing government. He started a bunch of wars everywhere bleeding this country dry. Then Obama, proudly wearing anti-war banners on his sleeves, well he comes along and starts even more continuing the same old policies. They both play us all for fools. So you see none of that phoney conservative this liberal that really means much of anything they're all a bunch of country club politicians sipping brandy and fiddling while Rome burns. Real liberals spilt blood for wild and crazy ideals in the bill of rights and real conservatives thought foreign entanglements and standing armies were a danger to the republic. They were right too. These empty suit, phoney balonies bought and paid for for the last century or so.. ..it's just crazy how the public just lets them get away with everything. Ok, off topic and off rant.. ..but really why buy into all the phoney baloney sound bite stuff that is meaningless? I used to believe in that garbage a long time ago but you know trillion dollar deficits and crybabies crying the sky is falling cause a bunch of beauracrats are going to lose their jobs (yeah right!) over a 88 billion peanuts... cause their budget is not going to grow by 88 billion, or whatever rediculous accounting methods they have.. That old saying comes to mind, the emperor has no cloths... You just do what you can to get by anymore and hope no-one takes a notion to steal what you've worked for. How sad is that?

    Dayamnnn!!!

and... At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Again, HISTORY tells us that politics really has no long term effect on the economy. Sure it will cause a blip here and there... But that is it. The driving engine is small business and the consumer. Always has been. Always will be. Read the historical data. Doesn't really matter who is in office.

Lots of loads. Lots of phone calls. But nobody wants to pay more than usual it seems. Seems too many truckers are just stuck in a bubble and want to keep taking loads for the rates they're used to rather than asking for more.

Well, this thread is just over 1 year old, and I'm wondering your thoughts on 2014, BBB.

Seems like freight and rates have been strong through December 2013, I wonder if this is telling for what might be to come this year?

I have no specific data other than my gut but I think that January is going to be better than past years. Weather combined with post holiday shipping (we are still running UPS extra freight) is impacting capacity in many areas right now. And that is always good for carriers that work the ad hoc market.

Also, most auto plants are opening on Saturdays. That is different for this time of year.

But consumer demand and confidence is increasing while capacity is lagging. That is going to lead to increased and extended periods of capacity issues.

One thing that is changing that is not good for small carriers is that new tractors are getting better fuel economy. 9 MPG with company driver on the Evolution could change the mindset of large carriers and have them increasing fleet sizes. Last year they couldn't get the return on capital so they focused on growing non- asset based business. But time will tell if that will change.

From our side, we just green lighted what I believe will be the absolute best O/O program in the business for someone that wants to lease to a carrier and just run (not the typical F2F driver that likes to book their own freight). We have created a dedicated fleet within a large carier that will run a hybrid of expedite and truckload freight. Percentage pay with big fleet discounts.

I'm still looking for a lease option program through someone that gives freedom to the operator to find their own loads, like your F2F does.

Are you currently still not interested in starting a lease program?

Seen your FB post. January has indeed been strong, and I've noticed a little bit more trucks than normal out on the road for this time of year.
