No I'm talking about the PA speaker. Thanks for the tip on the mic though.

So you have a external speaker plugged in to the PA jack
in the back of your radio inside the cab? I think we found
your problem. LOL these terms we use make a difference.

No, I have a PA speaker mounted under the hood of my truck outside the cab, plugged into the PA jack.

I like the RK 56 mics. I have a couple of the Astatic noise cancelling mics with the RK 56 guts in them. The best mic I have is the one in the picture. It is a Shure noise cancelling mic that has been re-worked to work with a CB. I forget the number and I'm too lazy right now to walk out to the truck and look. They ain't cheap and can be hard to find, but I can drive down the road with the windows down and the FM up and they can't hear it on the other end, sounds real clear too!! If memory serves me they were used in helicopters, top notch in quality for sure! I had a Diesel brand noise cancelling mic one time that I liked a lot. Never have tried the Ranger, but have heard good things about them. I wouldn't use anything but a noise cancelling mic in any vehicle.

I guess it is all relative, but I have had excellent results with the K40 noise cancelling mic for quite some time. Have been running one on a Galaxy DX 929 for quite a while and it is a solid performer. Has held up longer than a previous RK.

I knew you were right when I read the number but I got my lazy self up and went out to the garage to make sure, and you are correct..... 577B.

@ EZ Money: I have found that some radios will sound better with the RK and some with the Astatic.

    EZ Money Thanks this.

    Thanks Mike,
Yea the RK sounds terrible on my new DX94HP..Very tinny.....It sounded fine on my old DX44V.
The Astatic does ok on my new radio but the Ranger has a deeper tone and does the best on the 94HP.

My 636 and RK are both chrome........I wish they made the Ranger in a chrome version....lol!
The ranger is heavy compared to the 636 and RK.....It sounds good though.
That website that had them for 20 bucks i figured you can't go wrong....

For some reason the RK mics always sound better when the OP has a higher voice, for deeper voices the 636 has always sounded better..
