12.7 are unbeatable. If you can get preEGR truck (pre 04). Be much happier!

Within my family have ran a dozen 12.7 s60 in the last 24yrs. They are hard to beat. The fuel milage is good, decent power, and they are waaaaayyyyy cheaper to fix than CAT. We have 3 trucks with over 25k hours that have not been rebuilt.
If you go CAT the c-15 "6NZ" is the only thing I would consider outside of an S60.
Hope this helps. -
Thanks i apreciate your inputs

Any one else?

My preference in order..
S60, 12.7 or 14L, and then the N14. After that, toss a dart at a board.
I too would love a Coronado over a classic I think. I currently own an 06 Century with a 14L EGR S60. It's doing a solid 5.8-6 when the temps go below freezing, and goes north of 6.5 when I get into warmer climates.
Above 35, I have seen bobtail economy north of 8 and even 45K loads going over 7 mpg.
I have however had Rebel127 tune my engine ON a dyno. He did some serious magic in there. Even at 80K gross, this thing will hold it's own on the hills against a cat. Often pulling or outpulling a cat. I have one I want to run with in mind I think would really give me an idea how well it would do. But getting the two of us in the same route for any serious amount of time is proving difficult. He's got a C15 cat with a 625 tune in his. -
The pre-ACERT 14.0s weren't bad, either. The 12.7 DD60... not exactly a powerhouse, but a "working man's" engine. It gets the job done, and there are good reasons behind its popularity. As stated above, the N14 is a pretty solid powerplant, as well. I do like Cats... moreso when I'm not paying for their upkeep, however.

a properly tuned engine will save you more than just economy, but time also. I have noticed both directions across Montana, since my tune was done, It's saved me about 1 1/2-2 hours driving time getting up and over some of the bigger hills. I can pull them faster and get on down the road that much quicker with the new power I have.
In the end, I am burning that much less fuel in a day running 9 hours instead of 11. Two hours fuel at speed is a lot of fuel too. Can't measure that in MPG. -
So a 2005 coronado with 722,000 miles with a detroit 14 liter 90% good tires all chromed out interior the owner has not driven it since about a year and a half ago cause he had to retired cause he cant see anymore the truck is really good taken care of is $35,000 a good price or not?
