I have to agree with most of what you said jahdeeka. Starboy's comments, while I'm sure weren't meant to be as harsh as they sounded, did come across as cruel and mean-spirited in text.

The context of his statement is fairly accurate. While there is a shortage of drivers and always have been, the wonderful world of academia is pumpin' them out daily. There is a huge liability when placing a driver behind the wheel and companies are in business to make money. When hiring, it's a numbers game aimed at reducing liability...and turnover.

As far as the comments about big companies vs independents...(politely)...duh. As far as inspections (and this comes from someone that has been on both sides of this coin) independents tend to run a little longer, "fudge" a few more lines, and work on a thinner budget than a big-company driver(this is no secret to the DOT man). So, if you are an inspector and you're truly concerned about the safety of the motoring public...yeah, who is gonna get the most inspections?
