Well, as it turns out, I will not be joining the TMC crew. Before TMC had a chance to call me back, maverick called with a better offer. More pay, same home time, and faster trucks. I guess you could say they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
Just applied with TMC!

Maverick starts you out at 44cpm,,,yes? TMC starts you out at either 26% or .38cpm...if I remember right. I personally like the % pay better than miles, especially in flatbed.
BulletProof Thanks this. -
I'm not exactly sold on the % pay. Sure there are many ways your pay could significantly go up. BUT, there are many variables that could make it go drastically down. That's not the risk that I am willing to take. Maybe I just don't know enough about the % pay but it just seems to easy to screw up something like fuel mileage and there goes your pay. I was planning on doing mileage pay at TMC either way. So the .42cpm at Maverick vs the .37 I was going to be getting at TMC looks more appetizing.

Good luck to you Bulletproof.
Does TMC tie fuel mileage in with % pay somehow?
Im % but none of the truck expenses are involved in my pay. Its just a straight % of the load. -
TMC pays the driver, starting out 26% of each load. The FM will go through the whole process with you on % vs pm You will get the gross amount on the qualcomm so you can do the math yourself as well.

NEED INFO PLEASE
Hubby just got hired with TMC. He hasn't started yet so I figured I would hurry and ask some questions before he resigns from his current company. How are they to work for? Is it best to take the percentage or mileage? Average weekly gross income? Do their drivers get home every weekend? Lastly, how long is training. From what he has been told, orientation is 5 days & "training" is 5 days then he'll be on his own so I can go with him. I'm afraid to quit my job until we find out the truth about TMC.SheepDog Thanks this. -
Your right not to quit your job when starting out on a new adventure such as the one you and your husband are going to be starting... Anyway, I drove for them in 2011 and from what I hear, they haven't changed much.
As far as if they are a good company or not, I think they are but, your husband might not agree. They kept me busy monday thru friday and always got me home on friday night or saturday morning. I did the % pay because I like runing for the load, not the miles. I always made $800+ a week and never sat. They have good equipment and they keep it that way. As far as training goes, if he has not Flatbed Exp. at all than he will be in orientation for 5 days than out with a trainer for 2 weeks, or more depending on how well he does.
I wish you the best,...MJ1657 Thanks this. -
I do not drive for TMC, but I will say that I have spoken to a few of them and really they seem happy. Good luck!

% pay only works out if your dragging good paying loads.
and with Maverick, yeah the trucks are faster than TMC, BUT you still have to meet their minimum MPG requirements. if your hauling ### @ 68 mph all the time, it'll be difficult. -
How does a minimum mpg deal work?
