As a factory setting. Does the engine derate if the CHK ENG light is on? I have not looked at ECM to see what it says yet as I'm not at home near my mech.

some do for certain reasons , my 06 pete with a cummins was terrible it was picking up an overheat signal somewhere and lost almost all boost and prob down to half power while in that condition. a new thermostat and all was cured .

As far as I know, the engine will not derate until the check engine lite turns red and you start getting warning beeps. I have the ISX cummins in my truck, and that is what happened to me. If you have a amber lite, you should be able to check and see what code that you are getting, and then find out.

post me fault code and I can say you why engine is derated
-
I hate that #### have it checked and if it means nothing put something over it and still worry about it!!!!!!!! You never know. If they reset it and it comes back on reset it again if then it comes back on go to the dealer they will fix it for big $$$$$$$$$$ one way or the other.

really engine derate is usually related with boost problems, position problems and engine protection
-
It shows an active fault "engine oil pressure". However my GUAGE is where it's always been and doesn't move exept with engine RPM. this only shows up sometimes. I'm going stop and get an oil press. sending unit later today and see if that the culprit.
