It used to be 6 . I noticed it on my credits when I used my points for a purchase yesterday . Remember when real truckstops gave drivers free coffee ?
Pilot/Flying J now require 9 coffee purchases to get 1 free .

They had free coffee about my first 3-4 years before they started that rewards thing. It just gets worse as everyone tries to figure new ways to maximize profits.
Even the point system use to buy a lot more than it does now because of inflation. Everyone should get 3-4 cents a gallon now. I wrote Pilot about that but they just ignored me. Now he's our governor!Chinatown Thanks this. -

I'm sorry to report ( IMHO ) we haven't seen anything yet........ Uncle Fed has been pouring cash back into the market daily by buying back his own debt to try and save the economy. It's from his own doing with the mortgage meltdown, saving AIG, lending money to GM and the list goes on.
He's already screwed my grand kids as all that cash will have to be paid back but he's done something else too, he's generated a tidal wave of inflation.
Imagine it this way, water behind a dam and the dam is only capable of holding so much. Well right now were seeing leakage through the wall and a little over the top. That's your $160,000 tractor prices and your $2.00 Dr Pepper plus many other examples like $230 oil changes. That wall is leaking and fixing to break yet the Fed just keeps putting more water behind it. ( printing cash and buying back his debt )
I know, I know, the sky is falling, right? Maybe, or maybe not. I was a young married dad in the early 80's with vivid memories of 18% car and home loans. You were glad to get them too. Some paid 24% for their cars with mega chunk down. Credit cards were 28%, regular rate. Sure looks like this is starting again...
And of course JMO. I simply refuse to close my eyes and think no one can see me.dude6710, Emulsified and milskired Thank this. -

well theres a well kept secret at all the major truckstops, there not allowed to stop you if you just walk out with the coffee. i overheard it years ago when a manager was informing a new employee when she mentioned that a customer just walked out with out paying for the coffee. Ive confirmed it by actually asking one of the employees. if i fuel at the truckstop and spent 500 bucks im not paying for my thermos of coffee. in addition even if i didnt fuel and they only have one person at the register and 5 or 6 people in line im walkin out, they get plenty of money out of me and wife, im not gonna lose any sleep over it. say what you want but its the least they could do for a driver that spends 100k a year in fuel
Truckinchic, Raiderfanatic, milskired and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well put kennzz05..I dont think people that run these truck stops realize what would happen if trucks just stopped rolling for even one day..Can you imagine the chaos that would follow. No fuel to the truck stops, no coffee,lol..no one gets no deliveries,,nada..
we truckers can literally shut the country down if we didn't move.
Imagine a week.. -
Yeah I contacted them as well to inquire about being so petty. No response to defend at all, they just keep chippin' away........

In addition, the price of the coffee has gone up (like everything else). But Pilot will do it until enough drivers say "too much".
I don't see that happening.kerosene jockey Thanks this. -
Just one of the prime reasons I will never fuel at any of the mega truck stops. Truckers helped get them to their mega standings, yet get cast aside on the little things. I only fuel at the little mom and pops and never get charged for my coffee. Also even save $$$ on fuel and better parking. The only way that they will listen is not by an email or letter. They only understand the cash flow. Id just rather spend my money at those that really appriciate my business. Just my 2 cents. Be safe out there drivers.
kerosene jockey, lv gn and 48Packard Thank this.
