Oh my, better check your math, I think you reversed something. Using his numbers it's about 54 cents per mile. Thats for a basic, relatively safe easy product, the more dangerous ones pay better. I make around 66 cents per mile, with different bonus's, paid resets (on the road) (in a hotel room), annual profit sharing bonus's, safe driver yearly bonus's,.....shall I go on? They have been upgrading to new Macks, auto's with big shacks. Never thought I'd ever drive an auto and like it, but it ain't bad once you learn how to get around the computer as best you can. You'll still be chaining up where you wouldn't with a stick, and you have to know the grades and get into the right gear in advance, other than that, its a decent tranny, little 13 liter 505 hp pulls better than a 500 ISX. Bunks are comfortable, Wabasto on both engine and in the bunk.

As for yearly totals? I have a family so I need more time off, I make around 90 a year. If you want to work hard, do a good job, be safe, etc, I know another guy that made 115 last year, another guy that made 132...and guess what? He's still #####in that it wasn't enough...go figure. Some folks will never be happy....

WBT is not perfect no, no company is. And the grass is alway's greener on the other side of the fence. But guess what. A short while ago I ran into a driver that had quit in a huff last summer, went elsewhere.... yepe; you guessed it. I ran into him in the cafeteria in the Edmonton branch...he's back at WBT. That say's a whole lot, doesn't it?

    oooh....this is embarrassing....
Macks used to have a reputation as the 'Tough' truck. And were. Something seemed to happen in the 2000's and they seemed to go to pot. But I have to admit, these new ones aren't bad. Time will tell.... Reality is they're all built as cheaply as possible and they all have DEF and DPF and loaded with computers and plastic.
And these auto's ain't bad... Just carry a set of singles for those times you need to rock out of a little hole and can't...

Just because someone goes back to a company doesn't mean they like it, just usually means they need a pay check and will leave once something better comes up. Seems like west cans always hiring so he prob knew he had a guaranteed job lol.

Yes, I understand your point, and it is valid, but not in this case. I know this person, he had to eat quite a bit of crow to come back. I also know another gentleman that actually got fired for logbook violations when he attracted attention after having a fender bender. He came back just as soon as they'd take him. He's actually the guy that made 115 last year. E logs slows him down a bit. You are also correct in that WBT always seems to be hiring. That is true of all companies now, drivers; in particular, good ones; are getting hard to find, and everyone is finding this out. WBT would be a lot better off if they just turned down work they couldn't handle, and were a lot more selective with the drivers they do hire. Some terminals are able to be more selective and have little turnover.

let me see in any halfway decent year I can make 115, WITHOUT CHEATING ON MY LOGS, have 6 out of 21 days off on a known schedule. And I would want to work for ANY highway hauler putting up with all the bull@#$% WHY

Very interesting, I'd sure be interested in which outfit you work for. Sounds pretty good.
