I just finished up driving school. I have all my endorsements. I know I have to pick one of these big companies to get my foot in the door, then I can move on to a better company.
Crete offered me a van position. $500 per week during training then .34 per mile
Schneider offered me a tanker position $80 per day during training then .33 per mile
I'm not expecting much for pay my first year. I am looking for good training and good equipment.
Should I start with vans first? Should I get some driving experience before moving into tankers?
Down the road I might want to work in the oil fields for a few years.
Any advice?

Think about it in the long run where do u move up in dry Loads to make more money? In tanker opportunities are endless so many tanker jobs. Think about where u want to be in the future

Go tanker & within 12 - 24 months you can be making $60K + per year. Schneider is a good start. Don't know if you will make that much with Schneider, but you will have the training/experience to move to another tanker company where the pay will be that much or more.

Not knowing much about either company I would say go the tanker route, in the long run I think it would make for a better career.

Heard from an experienced driver/friend that Crete is very good. He had also worked for Schneider.

I've worked for both (vans) and I'm still at Crete (6 yrs), No way could I have stayed that long at SNI. If you think your going to pull a tank, then do SNI. If your going to pull a box go with Crete, at 1 year you'll be at .40CPM and more likely to stay longer than at SNI.
Whatever your choice good luckMarky84 Thanks this.
