You must submit it within two hours of leaving the customer. The pay only counts for time after 3 hours past your appointment, so if you arrive 5 hours early, that's not detention. You don't get any if you're late to the appointment as recorded by the customer. I have $164 of detention pay coming on my check tomorrow, so I know they do issue it.

Oh yeah, your FM has to not be lazy and actually send it in lol.
-
This I know.^^^
I arrived 3 hours early and.......lets just say by the time I left I had a 10 hour break in. I called my FM on it before. He always says " You have to talk to payroll.....that stuff takes time to process" B.S. -
If your fm wont help you, I honestly believe that Sewerman or Sarge will be able to give you guidance.

When I send in the macro 9 for detention I usually get a call from my FM within a few hours or the next morning if sent in after he goes home. He asks me went time they started loading and what time the put the last piece of freight on the trailer. 5 minutes after I get off the phone with him I will get a message telling me what extra pay I'm getting, how much, and what it's for. I've gotten detention every time so far with no asking twice.
raetnrunner Thanks this. -
As for detention you must have an appointment time (some exceptions). If the WA says 08:00 - 23:00 and you get there at 09:00 but they don't start loading you until 14:00 well that's just tough titty. Also put in your 9 after you have been there 3 hours, not after the fact. Then when you start getting loaded send in a 01 telling your FM you are getting loaded. You now have documented the event, no phone call needed. I've been paid a few times when I didn't expect it.
If you have a decent FM you will get a message saying you're getting the money honey! -
Fact is we shouldnt have to jump thru hoops to get detention. They know how long you've been there!! This is a real sore point with me about maverick.
-
Here's the issue, they know when you get there and when you leave. But they don't know what you're doing while at the customer. Are you jack jawing, doing a 10 or taking 3 hours to tarp. They don't know.
As for chasing them for the money after you have done everything correctly that full on 100% BS -
I guess every FM does it differently... I send my request in, and he never calls me or says anything, but it always shows up on the same check that the pay for that delivery is on. I have been told before it takes 2 - 3 weeks for detention to show up on your check, but I haven't had that problem in a couple months.
-
I probably end up watching at least 10-12 hours a week evaporate at the various AK's I load at.... I think I have gotten $14 detention pay so far in over a year.
