    Haven't even looked at new radios in 10 yrs but getting in a new truck and it's time. What do you guys suggest? Don't want one so big I have to take the seat out. Just strong and clear. Maybe around $300.?

    my old '94 Cobra 29, peaked and tuned,($15), Wilson 2000 antenna, works just fine.

    still puts out about 15-20 watts.

    that's enough for me. and it is dang near indestructible.

    Ebay is a good place to get one.. they got a cobra 29LTD Classic tuned and peaked for $47.00 (got the same 10 months ago and works great)

    I got a cobra 29 then put an amp on it. Puts out 60w

    Thanks crusty. I had an old one just like that and I loved it. My boss helped me put it in another truck while I was cleaning and pretty soon I started smelling smoke. Oops. It was toast. So I got another one just like it but it wasn't the same. The old one had a weather channel. Think this one is LTD WF. Hang onto that old one. Seems like they weee made somewhere else back then. Thanks for the come back.

    I am doing over 100 with mine.Yesterday i got out 45 miles NYS Thruway talking to some base stations on 26.

    I love this radio so far.My only concern is i have to buy a SWR meter to run in line with it.These stykers are notorious for blowing finals if SWR is not correct.Other than mo issues and many many compliments.

    I have an Astatic 636 Mic and the real good 18' coax.I have a very sturdy mirror mount and a wilson 2000..
