Team Driving Shifts

3 AM to 3 PM is 12 hours.. You only need 10 to reset your 14. While one person is taking the 12 hour shift, the other has 12 off.

 

Ahhh... My light bulb just came on... Wen you are saying 3/3 it's am/pm... Not 3 hrs/ 3 hrs... Gotcha

 

You can drive for whatever is best for you. You used to be able to drive 5/5. That was the best. Well technically you still can if you run paperlogs but it takes some creative logging. I learned to drive running 5/5 and that's how my wife and I did it. Driving 11 hours straight in my opinion is just silly. Why drive like that when you have to people. The whole idea is so that you are not driving tired!

Once you guys get going try it a few different ways and see what best works for you. My wife liked to drive the night shift when we were driving because there was less traffic and less headaches. Right now I drive team and run 11 hours and I drive the night shift. Its so much more relaxing!

Really though, like I said, its up to you guys whatever works best.

When I drove with my wife I would also do the extreme driving when the weather was bad etc... Also if we had to go somewhere where it was a difficult situation or tight backing I would take over. We also divided the duties of the truck. My wife would take care of all the office work and phone calls and such and I would take care of the truck and the mechanical stuff.

What works the best for my wife and I is a split...she drives from 2pm till 2am and I do the 2am till 2pm Now that isnt exact but we try to keep it like that when its possible. She likes to stay up late and I like to wake up early so this works the best...this way neither one of us drives the entire night. Now with that said everyone has to adjust to what works best for them. Hope this helps...

We drive our 11 and then switch out so sometimes it gets a little crazy..lol
