How true this is. Remember about two or three years ago......suddenly, everyone needed a "miracle colon cleanser". Every couple of years, it changes.

Now, specifically for men (well, I guess for women too, in a way), you MUST treat your "Low-T" condition...right now! Be the man you wished you could have thought you might have been able to be when you were 20!!"

Coming from a family of doctors and pharmacists, this garbage makes me sick. I'm thankful to be on CPAP, because I really need to be. But the charlatainism that exists is insane.

I'd need a mouth guard that moved my jaw 3 feet for it to work,lol..... I love my CPAP!
Have a resmed S9 Elite for travel and a resmed S8 elite for home. I want to try the S9 heated hose next.
I also had apnea when I was 20 and weighed in at 165. I'm almost 50 and 250lb. I think neck size is a precursor, but not a positive indicator.
I feel sorry for the people that can't use a cpap and need one.

    48Packard and rocknroll81 Thank this.

S9 is the one I use. Still have my S8 as a spare.

Current DOT medical certification guidance does NOT reccomend cerfification when treated with oral appliances.

They do not have the compliance and efficacy data capabilities of a CPAP.

(is it being used and is it working)

    jonboy29 Thanks this.

Of course not. They only work for the specific condition that is remedied by tweaking your jaw's position. It's like saying that new seals don't fix every air leak, so new seals are worthless, all hoses must be replaced. However, those in the position of authority don't really care, they just want to write reports that show they're "doing something".

It has gotten out of hand and has become a cash cow.
Those gadget companies are jumping on the band wagon to rake in some dough.
Do you seriously think a hunk of plastic will open an obstructed airway? Or a fancy pillow will make you breathe freely.
If so, then send them your money quickly.

In Canada, the trucking companies aren't drinking the apnea kool-aide yet. it will come soon.
But we are still diagnoising alot of people for CPAP use.
Its not too bad up here, our tests are free, and the goverment pays 75% of the cost of the machine, and replaces it every 5 years. And benefits pick up the rest if you have insurance.

From what I read in the US trucking, its gotten out of hand. guys are being forced to leave the industy due to testing costs. Thats just crazy. Do you know of any other industry that throws its work force under the bus?
Even the porn industry keeps the sic ho's....lol. Bad example!

Actually, the oral appliances work for some people - some percentage will be effective.

There are some people using it as a cash cow... It should not be.

Oh, and it's the same cash cow in Canada that it is here... The trick is that the same people are making big money... But the taxpayers are paying for it invisibly, rather than the patient seeing the bill.

Here is some of the story from my deal . the DME or cpap supplier called me on my cell and asked if I need the seal and foam backer for the mask I use . I thought having a spare would be smart so I said send it . bill was 114.00 bucks . So I get on the net now that I have a part number and the price was 54.00 bucks .

They called again and said that I needed to change out the air inlet filter . This is a little piece of open cell foam 1 inch X 1 1/2 inch . close to a 1/4 inch thick . Suppliers price tag was 8.00 bucks . Same stuff you can buy for a window conditioner for 9.59 . that gets you a 8 inch X 20 inch piece that you can cut to fit . I didn't do either , Took it and washed it out .
