I have been considering leasing my truck to a company and had a few questions before I started calling around. Is it standard for a company to offer 75% of the line haul? Who pays for the insurance (truck, cargo and liability) base plates? Registration? Ucr? 2290? How old of a truck will companies lease on? Anyone have any good companies to recommend? Should I look for a big company, or the small fleet ones?

    Thanks guys!

No percentage "standard". Rate could be percentage or by mile. Insurance: Liability is theirs. Physical damage is yours. Cargo, depends on carrier. Base plates, your cost whether you get them thru carrier or on your own. Same for registration. UCR, them. 2290, you. Age of equipment depends on carrier. Most folks seem to have better experience with 300 truck or smaller outfits. That depends on what you are looking for. Customer base more critical than the size of the carrier. And IFTA may or may not be shouldered by you. Any carrier recommendation would be dependent on what you want to do, where you live, and where you want to operate.

what kind of trl are you pulling now. Some will take your trl. some will not.
Where do you want to run, how about home time?
Will they let you use a fuel card and take out of your settlement?
Do they require E logs/ qualcom etc.

Well if its YOUR truck aren't YOU be resposible for ALL costs associated with operating said truck? The more of your costs they pay the lower your rate will be... And if its your truck why dont you set the rate at which you will haul their frieght ?

Actual percentage is as important as the rate itself. 50% is fine if they get $6.50 a mile, and 99% isn't enough if they get $1.00 a mile. Gotta find out the typical rates any given company is getting before making the call whether a % is worthwhile or not.
