My opinion..its not easy. I think my phase two especially...if u mess up with 70-80k on the road it can cost a life...i had to really toughen up and pay attention. Phase three is not perfect for me but im getting in safe miles and putting forth the proper effort...gonna be learning for a long time..trip #1 thru chicago during friday rush hour took 3hrs. Today at 115pm monday took an hour or probably less. Lesson learned. I agree with others..grab a longer course and come back..or if youre not comfortable dont knock yourself...i dont think the job is for everyone. My first three days phase three were pretty crazy...but i sorta like that...i wish u the best.

Don't feel bad. Many struggle in the beginning. I struggled getting through my 8 week CDL schooling. I tried it within the first year after husband died. Was not in the right frame of mind to attempt driving school. Had been around trucks for 24 years with my husband driving during our entire marriage. I had to go through the final drive twice. Ended up actually taking my second attempt in a straight truck flat bed with a trailer on a pintle hook. Got my class A as it was considered a class A vehicle. At that time I really considered class B but there were limited jobs in my area with no experience. Need to get a job so I went with Roehl's driver finishing program. When I tried my inital test drive with Roehl I had been out of the school for 2 months. Had a great trainer though who got me on the right track. Spent 2 years as a company driver. Left for 3 years then came back and have completed 2 years as a O/O with Roehl. Get your school at a slower pace and then try coming back. Just make sure the school teaches you only with manual (shift) trucks.

What ever you finally decided to do i wish you luck. I personally loved the fast pace of RDTC back when i did it. Though its not for everyone.

For future reference, I thought I should correct the above. It is actually Friday of the second week that you take the CDL road skills test, not Thursday. (Heh, the pace is so fast, I forgot which day it was.) Thus, you get six days of road time before the test, not five. Sorry for the error.

I am gonna be honest here. I did that school and it was not very hard. If you quit after 4 days then you were not cut out for trucking. This is what happens when you start giving out participation trophies to everyone. Dude, put on your big boy pants and be a man.

Since when did quitting and complaning become something that eveyone pats you on the back for and sends condolences?
