If it's a straight 10 with overdrive, it will be ok. A true 10 speed direct has no overdrive. A super 10 splits every other gear.

if there is any grease left in it take a sample to see if it was cooked in the fire. heat can weaken the hardness of the gears and make the o-rings brittle on the internal slave cylinders. if it got hot enough.

    heavyhaulerss and aiwiron Thank this.

@heavyhaulerss, I guess what i'm trying to say is, there are 3 kinds of 10 speed transmissions:

    1. 10 speed overdrive
    2. 10 speed direct
    3. Super 10

I think with your setup, which is similar to mine either 1 or 3 will work the best.

A Super 10 is based on the 9/13/18 case, a straight 10 is different, meaning the driveline may need modification. Go to Roadranger.com and look up specs to sure.

You're right. A 13 speed would fit also, with no driveline modifications, if one was available.

I was just going by what the guy said who would be installing trans. told me the only thing that would need to be changed would be shift knob, & everything else would line up. I even asked about the cross member support across the back of trans. thanks mn & the rest for the advice. looks like it will be monday before they can get to it. I will ask if the 10 is a od direct or not.

For driving heavy I liked a 13, may even increase your fuel mileage some since you split than shift so the RPM's stay in a range, but not a mechanical expert myself.

I was just thinking, on the m.p.g. on the direct 10 vs o.d. super 10. if I remember correct a driver on here COWPIE ordered a glider with a 18 speed WITHOUT overdrive, because the o.d. would cost him more on fuel.
