I need to get a job, I'm looking for suggestions as to a decent company that will give a driver who has been unemployed for 15 months. (due mostly to being lazy, and picky) My last job lasted 11 years and then ended because the dedicated customer went out of business. I didn't waste all my time off... I got long put off surgery for bad circulation in my legs, one at a time, and I worked on creating a product, and getting a patent for it, so I didn't just do nothing.

I have 19 years experience no accidents, no tickets... somewhere between 1.5 and 1.75 million miles. But my down shifting in particular is a bit rusty, I went to a school for a refresher late last summer... but they were about as useful as they were the first time as far as getting road time. I just got my hazmat background check cleared, and will need to test. Though I've never had hazmat, I'm not worried about the test as I've been studying. I already have tanker endorsement.

I've been trying to get local and that just hasn't worked out. I would be interested in regional but not really OTR... I just know that if I took OTR... I wouldn't last long... especially with some of the stories I've read on this forum. Flatbed is out because my knees wouldn't deal with it well. I know I probably sound picky, but I just can't see jumping into something that I'm going to hate and consequently not be successful at.

So if anyone has any suggestions for a decent company that will take into consideration my record... and understand that shaking a little rust is all I need to be back out there in tiptop shape, and will give me that opportunity, I'd appreciate hearing about them... Thanks for your time...

BTW.. No failed drug tests and current DOT medical good until 9/2014.

You've only been out 15 months. You're golden if that's your real record. Pottles out of Bangor,ME does NE regional and is pretty decent, Bellevance out of Vermont does NE regional as well. Take some of the comments about OTR being horrific with a grain of salt. A lot of it is from their own stupidity and not understanding the job. Good luck to you.

My record is real... if I wasn't being honest I wouldn't admit to a bit of laziness... but I was getting an unemployment check that was more than some jobs pay... so hence the pickiness... not the case any longer. I didn't realize that the getting a product sold was a long process. Thought I might avoid getting back in a truck, though I've missed some aspects of it... Where in VT is Bellevance... I'm from Vt originally and the name doesn't ring a bell... Thanx

Sorry.. never mind looked it up duh... they're up by Montpelier.

i have been getting unemployment since nov 7th and i hated every minute of it ... i needed eye surgery and finally had it done on the 13th, ( last week ) and was pre-approved at barr nunn, and the morning i had my surgery i was walking out to the car to go home and called barr nunn before i even got in the car to tell them it was done .... friday morning the doc cleared me to go back to work, i faxed the letter to barr nunn friday ( yesterday ) and i am heading out tomorrow ( sunday ) for orientation with barr nunn ... i have a clean record for last 5 yrs with nothing bad on dac or mvr, but barr nunn for me was the right choice since i was choosing between them, usxpress and heartland ... i wanted hometime every weekend ... but i know what you are saying about unemployment, here in pa i was getting the top pay of 586 a week for unemployment ... it was good to have it when i needed it, and now that i dont need it now, i am heading back to work... all my guitars will feel neglected since for the last 4 1/2 months that is all i was doing until surgery came... and yes, this was the earliest i could get in for surgery for any doctor in the allentown area ... some said i had to wait until end of april and even may... this one said march 13th and i jumped on it ...
