Looked like 8482 or 8492 to me, either way, an Alliance truck. Heard thru the 'grapevine' that a QC was sent out, that it was a trainer & student, and they were making a U-turn.KMac Thanks this.

I am on home time until Monday so I haven't seen a QC, but man, U Turn... It's not like they don't warn us every chance they get, and why is a trainer teaching someone to ignore company policy? Especially that one?TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

You'd be surprised how many drivers try a U turn and get caught.
Usually by a stranger calling in and reporting it or complaining.
Same for sitting ducks, drugs, alcohol....
Stupid is as stupid does!Corporal_Clegg, TRKRSHONEY, Delirious Nomad and 1 other person Thank this. -
Saw a Stevens sitting duck just yesterday on Freeport Parkway by Kraft in Ft. Worth. Only thing I can think of was he ran into Taco Bueno to grab some lunch. I see them fairly often around Kraft.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this.

........Snitch........ -
In Ft Worth... not like anyone from Stevens could possibly be riding in that area.
If you are going to break a company policy, and I am not advocating that you do, but if you do, make sure it is outside the DFW area at least and probably outside of Texas is a good idea.TRKRSHONEY and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
Some people are beyond that illusive unicorn called common sense lol.KMac Thanks this.

Saw the video, very sad indeed. I know that it is a difficult thing but I do believe the speculation ongoing in here is a bad thing. We do not know nor will we probably know what in fact happened. Might just be a coincidence that the U turn QC message went out and could be totally unrelated to this. The only people that know what occured are the people who saw that trailer fill thier windshield and possibly the driver if he even felt the bump. It is kind of sad that more and more we see our trucks on the national or evening news. I was tempted to chime in however I got to thinking, that can happen to me just as easily as any one else and I pray to god I never have to go through seeing that kind of trauma as a result of something I did or might not have done. We can learn from this, however until the black and white is out we just do not know what went wrong. Even the initial report that goes into safety, that is only from the view of our driver, it takes no account in for the other vehicle was doing and what the DOT findings will be. Lets be a bit more professional and wait for all the facts to come in. I would really like to think that a trainer was not demonstrating how to make a U turn. Hell if it was a trainer student team, the trainer could have been asleep in his bunk at the time of occurence. We just dont know.
Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
The QC msg stated the trainer & student and also gave the same ages, could be a coincidence but highly unlikely. QC also stated that the trainer was in his 50s, news article states driver was in his 50s... There was a trainer a couple of years ago that insisted his student follow the directions being given by the GPS even though there was a low bridge. Trainer insisted that the GPS wasn't wrong, student topped the trailer & lost his job, trainer was allowed to keep his job. I agree we don't know, but everyone is allowed their personal opinion. We are all adults, if you don't like reading the speculation...don't read it!Last edited: Mar 24, 2013
