We have no liner puller at our shop and i dont wanna wait for my service manger to decide when he wants to buy the tool...any tips or tricks? i was told by an old timer to use a wood dowel and beat it from underneath, the liners are junk anyways and the dowel is oak so its hard but not hard enough to do any damage...i know someone on here has to know of a trick.
pulling liners on a c12, any tips?

Get a 2 x 4 and a bottle jack. Jack them up from the bottom. Just put some pressure on the liners and let it sit for a minute and they will pop up. Watch out for oiler tubes.
JustinofPeteNYC Thanks this. -
if you have good clearance from under the truck you could use a floor jack and the piece of wood but before you might want to see if your local dealer or truck repair shop could lend you a puller
-
haha we are a peterbilt dealer!! yea i was thinking of using a bottle jack and a piece of wood, i removed the oil tubes so ill try the dowel and hammer idea cause im thinking i can pop the liner enough to be able to go up top with a pry bar and pry the rest our and if that dont work ill bring in the bottle jack.
-
No need to mess around beating and prying on them. You will be suprised how easy they pop up.
-
yea ive pulled them out using a puller at a previous dealer but i guess using the puller made me think theyd be really hard to pop out without the puller...thanks guys monday morning ill get those liners out
-
Theres some good advertisement for ya, a pete dealer doing things the down home back woods way instead of the right way. I guess I know now if ever on LI and have trouble where not to go.

Are you kidding me? The local Peterbilt dealer here charges over $100 an hour so I hate to think what they charge in NYC and you guys do not have a liner puller! That is exactly why my truck never goes to Peterbilt. A bunch of fresh outta school kids charging me loads of money to learn on my truck.

Haha I hear ya! Which is why Monday morning I got an interview at cummins. Not only do we not have proper tools we don't have heat! But this is why I posted on here to see if anyone had any advice for a safe way to pull the liners and I mean if it works it works and i will get the job done right and the truck will be running like new
