Prairie Boy-WOW! That old KW brings back memories-my first truck was a 51 of Al Ghezzi's-220 Cummins, 4&3, 3013's-no sleeper, of course, but I got pretty good and curling up around the sticks-hammock under the trailer or sleeping bag on the ground when it got warmer. Sleeping on the floorboards of an Emeryville was like living in a condo after that! Good video of the Alaska Highway! A lot of changes-seems like the only thing that hasn't changed is the frost heaves between Burwash and 1202. I was with Lynden before the Alaska West days-aren't they the non-Teamster side of Lynden? Here's some interesting reading-Google "Gene Rogge-Alaska" and" Letourneau VC-22 snow freighter". Reads like the rogue's gallery of early northern trucking! So much to talk about-guess it will have to be 2 cups!

6 spd allison in 90% of the trucks
18 spd ultrashift in the rest

ride the brakes alot in the 6 speeds(its all mountain switchbacks), but have never lost control cuz of auto transmission

Don't the Allisons come with a retarder?? The loggers have the Retarder and Engine brake on theirs.

I wish I had that much traction to drive forward when I couldnt get going again on an icey hill. I backed onto both sets, still wouldn't budge. Ended up getting a winch tractor to winch me up,
